Come join us for a day (or weekend) of whitewater kayak instruction on the beautiful San Marcos river. Spring fed - the San Marcos is 72 degrees, year round! Our instructors are all experienced kayakers and Olympic winner Ben Kvanli is our head instructor! Once we have the basics down, we will kayak the San Marcos River.
If possible arrive at the Olympic Outdoor Center Friday night for preliminary outfitting and instruction and then plan on joining us for dinner.If you can''t make it Friday night please come early Saturday (7:45am) to get outfitted. Plan to be on the water first thing in the morning to get out on the river and have some fun!!
The river has 3 small rapids. Downstream, the San Marcos river has 2 more rapids. This will be for beginner and experienced kayakers. They specialize in instructing beginners and if you do not want to do any of the rapids you can easily portage around them! The kayaks are whitewater boats with skirts.
We are getting an awesome rate of $95.00 per person instead of the normal $130.00 which includes kayak rental, paddle, helmet, life vest, and a shuttle. Bring lots of water, snacks, cash for lunch and sunscreen. Wear a swimsuit or board shorts and a top. You will probably want a t-shirt to protect you from the sun in the afternoon. Don't forget your towel!
If you do not have a dry bag, just bring your river stuff in a bag that we can leave on the shore.
