BCO - A Walk in the Woods

BCO - A Walk in the Woods

Aka Hiking Memorial Park Trails

July 14, 2018

Meet at 8:15 AM, start 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM

Memorial Park by the rugby/soccer field parking lot

N Picnic Lane

Houston, TX 77007

Need a good hike or to escape into nature for a bit this weekend, but don’t have the time to drive out of town. Well, we know just the place.

Memorial Park, one of BCO’s inner city favorites, is an amazing 1,466-acre park right inside the loop. We call it the Central Park of H-Town!

It’s one of the largest parks in the county, and it boasts trails that are a mix of hard packed dirt, sand, trees and tree roots. It’s wooded, wild and hidden right in the middle of our concrete city!

Join us for an hour and a half quick-paced hike through some of the lesser-known (and more adventuresome) trails this park has to offer.

Wear tennis shoes or hiking boots as it’s easy to bang a toe on a tree root. If you’ve never been on these

trails, you’re in for a surprise. There’s some ‘elevation’ in this park…enough that you won’t believe you are still in the flat city of Houston.

Remember to bring your hydration pack or water bottle, as there are no water fountains along the trails.

Please check the meeting location map on the Bayou City Outdoors site calendar before you head over to the park. It’s a big park, and we try and leave on time!
