Synergy Event - "Freedom of Speech & the Internet"

Synergy Event - "Freedom of Speech & the Internet"

Today at Noon

Description: With the ever growing popularity of social networking web sites and new media delivery methods like YouTube.com, there are challenges to the spirit of free speech and how it may affect you later on in life. You may hate your boss, your co-workers, or your roommates, but do you need to post it on the web for all to see? You had a great time at Spring Break on the beach with all of your buddies, but will that 5 minutes of Internet fame on YouTube.com doom you to a life of unemployability? If you are under the age of 30, you grew up with these digital tools infused into your academic and social life, but the people that will be hiring you have not. Chris Turek, Educational Technology Consultant, will discuss these topics and provide strategies to balance your life as a Digital Native trying to make your way in a work force filled with Digital Immigrants.
