Katy Freeway Total Closure

TOTAL CLOSURE OF I-10/KATY FREEWAY EASTBOUND AND WESTBOUND & MULTIPLE I-10/I-610 DIRECT CONNECTORS RAMPS

"Motorists are Strongly Encouraged to Avoid the Area and Seek Alternate Travel Routes"

(Houston) -This weekend, August 11 - 14, 2006, the Texas Department of Transportation's Contractor for the I-10/I-610 Interchange reconstruction will totally close I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound and westbound from Silber to west of Washington and multiple direct connectors, starting 9 PM, Friday, August 11 until 5 AM, Monday, August 14. Traffic destined to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound will be detoured via the I-10/Katy Freeway westbound direct connector to I-610/West Loop northbound to exit at 18th Street and U-turn to enter I-610/West Loop southbound to access I-10/Katy Freeway westbound. Traffic destined to I-10/KatyFreeway eastbound will be detoured via the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connect ramp to I-610/West Loop northbound to continue to I-610/North Loop, to I-45/Gulf Freeway southbound, to access I-10/East. Alternately, I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound traffic will be detoured via the I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound direct connect ramp to I-610/West Loop southbound to con

tinue south to US 59/Southwest Freeway northbound, to I-45/Gulf Freeway northbound to access I-10/East. Three* direct connector ramps will also be closed at over the weekend, a list is provided below. Due to the combination of concurrently scheduled closures, mobility in the vicinity of the I-10/I-610 Interchange will be very limited. Motorists are strongly encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to designations in proximity to area.

. The I-610/West Loop northbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway westbound will be closed starting 9 PM Friday, August 11 until 5 AM Monday, August 14. Continue northbound to exit at 18th Street and U-turn to enter I-610/West Loop southbound to access I-10/Katy Freeway westbound.

. The I-610/West Loop northbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed starting 9 PM Friday, August 11 until 5 AM Monday, August 14. Continue northbound to I-610/North Loop, to I-45/Gulf Freeway southbound, to access I-10/East.

. The I-610/West Loop southbound direct connector to I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound will be closed starting 9 PM Friday, August 11 until 5 AM Monday, August 14. Detour to exit at Old Katy Road, left on Old Katy Road to Washington to access I-10/Katy Freeway eastbound.
