Popular Post Highrise Tower
Houston Methodist Hospital Centennial Tower https://www.eypae.com/client/houston-methodist/houston-methodist-hospital-centennial-tower Scheduled to open in 2027, Centennial Tower will stand as one of the tallest buildings in the Texas Medical Center (TMC) skyline, proudly representing Houston Methodist’s commitment to leading medicine. Centennial Tower continues the iconic architectural identity of Houston Methodist TMC and, with Walter Tower, reinforces the new front door of the campus. But these spectacular medical towers are, first and foremost, places of advanced patient care and healing with calming touches—such as a green terrace nestled between the two. As a healthcare system that is constantly adapting and evolving, Houston Methodist was ready to renew its aging patient facilities in the TMC. EYP developed a long-range campus renewal master plan that started a decades-long journey, with the Research Institute and Outpatient Center completed in 2010 and the 22-story Walter Tower opening in 2018. The new Centennial Tower will add patient beds, an expanded emergency department, and advanced neuro- and cardiovascular surgical capabilities to the hospital’s flagship campus. At 29 stories and with capacity for 382 private, inpatient beds as well as diagnostic and treatment spaces, Centennial Tower will connect to existing Houston Methodist buildings on multiple levels to allow for integration of care and operations. At a central drop-off entryway, a warm wood-clad canopy with an oculus welcomes visitors into a light-filled, uplifting space. The lobby has a timeless, museum-quality feel with multiple skylights, where you can pause and get your bearings (and the information desk is right there, if you need help with that.)

Luminare
They missed a great opportunity to make one of these white and the other black. That way whenever I fly into Houston again I can point to the literal play on the famous yen-yang symbol. Oh well. tangledwoods
keep seeing those lovely little Tadano Mantis cranes on jobs around town. Those things are dope, crazy to think they have gone from unicorn status to common in such a short time.

I've operated several different Mantis crawlers and hated them, seemed like 1980's style technology that weren't operator friendly. When they got bought out or merged with Tadano I thought they would be better but the one I operated was more like a Mantis than a Tadano, which are the best cranes I've ever operated. The one I operated was basically a Mantis with the Tadano computer. Hopefully they are better now.
hindesky
The refinery I was working at had mostly Grove Rt cranes when I started but by the time I left all the Groves had all been replaced with a total fleet of Tadano Rt's from 15 ton - 160 ton, all the operators loved them. They were considered the cream of the crop as far as rough terrain cranes go. The one in Highrise Tower's pics look more like the real Tadanos. The Mantis cranes had horrible sight lines, operator couldn't even see his right track which could be a hazard if someone was standing there. Uncomfortable seats, you had to get your back off the seat to reach the crane levers, just bad ergonomic design.
