Not sure if the water main break is related to this site but it appears the townhome on the northwest corner from there seems to be sinking due to the break. That corner of the street has been sinking for quite some time. I don't know that the townhouse itself has been effected.

KinkaidAlum
Anyone have a clue as to what this will look like other than masonry and stone? Museum Park has long been my favorite neighborhood. Easy access to all the best things in Houston.

Neighbor
The MNPA presentation says it will be like the building on Main which opened in the last few months. https://www.southmainbuilding.com/ Recent images on google streetview here:https://www.google.com/maps/place/7557+Main+St,+Houston,+TX+77030/@29.6976901,-95.4118635,3a,75y,58.62h,89.66t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1semT2RPGt0V1jrEpCO3Ee5A!2e0!7i16384!8i8192!4m5!3m4!1s0x8640c01444b7f473:0xcb1689fc8b93f8e5!8m2!3d29.6981293!4d-95.4113305 This building wraps around a pool deck atop the so-called parking pedestal. The current crane is 10 sections x 20'/section =200' tall, and begins by eye about 5' below ground. So finished structure should be about 5' higher than the 8th section of the crane. pretty much a box filling the volume except for the pool facing the existing low rise specialty hospital to the south. this is based on https://www.museumparkna.org/resources/Documents/2019.08.07%20General%20Meeting%20Minutes%20.pdf, rumor...and FAA info listed helpfully above. IMHO too bad an actual public discussion didn't impose some additional setback and allow more light into the adjoining narrow streets esp on N/S/W. They are not So. Main. and Braeswood with the bayou beyond. However, that may be a done deal. We'll see impact. Interesting in that regard that developer has not made anything public (unless someone knows better, I didn't find the presentation as promised at the MPNA site). Popular Post hindesky
I was able to take a pic of the rendering from someone on site, terrible pic but better than nothing. I was shown another pic but he wouldn't let me take a pic of it. The pic I took was the side facing Crawford. The one I couldn't was the one facing Prospect St. where the pool deck is going to be. U shaped building with pool deck facing toward the south. The dots are bricks poking out from the rest. 4 stories of parking garage with 9 stories of apartments on top. Interesting in that regard that developer has not made anything public (unless someone knows better, I didn't find the presentation as promised at the MPNA site). Most of the MPNA peeps have the presentation, it was emailed out. The developer has been working with the surrounding neighbors through a few of the people on the MPNA and the public discussion was pretty robust. The lighting thing was an issue for some of the MPNA people who don’t even live near the development, asking repeated questions about light bleeding and such and how they like their sleepy streets (tbh, much of the area needs better lighting but apparently people like it dark). So as currently discussed, they’re dumping money into new lights like the ones in the park For la branch and Crawford, burying some of the electrical lines, sewage system, paving over those crappy muddy mini-ditches and replacing them with anyone allowed street parking (as opposed to residents only), dedicating money to the esplanades around the development for MPNA to do what they want with them, and another community beautifying thing they haven’t hammered out yet with MPNA. Edit: I'll figure out a way to upload the presentation later. Edited March 16, 2020 by X.R.
KinkaidAlum
Looks like a mini-Randall Davis garage mahal with little interaction with the street. At least it's lacking the Davis theme. Too bad. That area of town has the potential to become something truly special with its location, Hermann Park, cultural facilities, and access to transit but not if it gets too many projects like this. 3

I uploaded the presentation. The only thing that may interact with the street is the cafe they have on crawford along with the leasing office. @KinkaidAlum I think I said this before, but they are trying to see if they can open the cafe to the public, given the parking requirements. Also, I don't know how much interaction with the street the neighborhood would have loved, given the type of questions they received during the presentation. Here is the presentation, the link is only good for 30 days: https://easyupload.io/twcrs9 Edited March 17, 2020 by X.R.

X.R.
Personally, if I was them, I woulda put the pool on the top floor and so if something taller ever goes in next door it doesn't matter. Plus, then they can charge people to party at the pool like the Marquis does. Feel like that would be a hit with demographic we have in the museum district 😊 2
