Guessing they are waiting out the stormy weather or waiting on the tower crane sections. The generator that will power the tower crane. https://bobcatcontracting.com

hindesky
Came over here to fly the drone but I saw a car that had the emblem for "Arch Aerial" on it. It is a commercial drone company located here in Houston. Didn't want to fly while it was up in the air so I waited till he finished up. I did talk with the drone pilot, he was taking pics of the Alliance Prose project here, said they have a contracts with Alliance and several other companies in the area. He was flying a model of the Phantom which is a high end expensive drone. https://archaerial.com A DJI Phantom drone, he didn't specify which model but it looked similar to this example: About to land. My drone pics....
brijonmang
Interesting they're still flying the Phantom. A great drone when they first came out but a bit outdated in many respects and just a pain to lug around (ask me how I know 🙃) Always appreciate your photos with the added inside info, @hindesky
hindesky
Note: While flying here I could see the tower crane at White Oak mixed use condos was about to be taken down. hindesky
Not sure whether Alliance or Fairfield is leasing this lot to store material. The contractor rebuilding Center St is next to it.

I agree, but from biking around there a lot and looking at the pictures, I have to admit that I worry that a lot of the urbanist potential of this development cycle for this area will be lost to fencing. The areas within the (fairly big) street blocks are largely impermeable. It's not the end of the world, but especially in a city as hot as Houston, the perpetuation of the fenced-off superblock trend is problematic for pedestrians.
