No it will increase due the density inside the loop. Everybody I talk to would ride it due to the traffic. It is so bad I walk to HEB off Alabama from my house in off Revere and get there in 10 minutes, while cars are sitting in traffic. We just need more options which light rail would work.

Same here Terminal D and B with the announcement next year. It's great for the expansion from Hobby. Unfortunately I fly first class, so United will always be the way to travel.

If METRO had more participants like Katy, Sugar Land, Pasadena, Missouri City and Baytown. Then commuter rail could at least be a discussion or planned. DART has Dallas, Addison, Carrollton, Cockrell Hill, Farmers Branch, Garland, Glenn Heights, Highland Park, Irving, Richardson, Plano and University Park. Something is wrong here.

Yes they are building a Tollway on 288. Before you hit the medical center the are building a ramp straight to the TMC. They are also building a interchange at the Beltway. More concrete!

Sorry I know what you are talking about. But the rail plan cannot be changed with so much paper work with our politicians involved. We voted for METRO Solutions. Everyone wants it changed it but we would have to go back and start over. I thought the University Line could cut across Greenway Plaza and transit through the feeder off 59. And elevated across 59 to Westpark to the Hillcroft station. I'm so sad that we cannot build a light rail line to connect the other ones. While the Grand Parkway, 290, and 288 are under construction.

Who made you the ridership person? Bellaire built a park and ride lot off Westpark. The density off Gulfton, Hillcroft and Post Oak is high. Why don't you ride the bus to the Hillcroft Transit Center and see how many people ride the buses. Do not mock unless you know the facts. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

I love Portland you can take the light rail from the airport. It is walkable everywhere but too cold and always raining. It has a good light rail system, but Portland is only 135 square miles. I wish Houston could at least build rail inside the loop. Houston has far more museums and better restaurants.

They will get what they deserve. Afton Oaks has no idea what will happen when 2929 Weslayen, Willowick Place, Buffalo Speedway, and Levy park opens up.

Slick Vik is right. My car was in the shop and METRO had the 82 Westheimer running every 10 minutes. I hoped on it and got off at Taft. I was there in 10 minutes. If I worked Downtown I would use it. I'm not poor to ride a bus. Afton Oaks will get what they do not want. When River Oaks District is done with two other high rises the traffic will be a parking lot. Then every one in a car will cut through Afton Oaks. They got their way with no rail. Just wait all the traffic will flow into their area cutting through! Oh and when the train comes! LOL! When that happens they will ask Culberson to help them.

We know the University Line is dead because of the devil! The city of Houston, METRO, Harris County, and TXDOT must come together for a 20 year transportation plan that includes more freeways, toll roads, commuter rail, light rail and try to expand METRO'S area. If we do not do anything we will choke on traffic. We all know that will hurt our economy. Inside the loop something must be done! The traffic starts at 3pm till 7pm and you cannot get anywhere. And a lot of these highrises and midrises are not open yet. It's going to be like Manhattan here of course with no rail to catch. So keep on bickering with no solution.

I know United wants to start the north B concourse next year. Demolish it and build mainline gates that connect to Terminal C. Not sure but that will add another 50 gates. With a FIS in Terminal B. That will allow Turkish, Singapore, Air Canada, Lufthansa, Air China to access connections to United without going to Terminal D. I did not know they were going actually tear down Terminal D. But they do need something larger for the other carriers. We will know more next year.

Thanks for the effort. What is that blue building in the middle? If that is where Foley's was it does not look like that. 609 Main is now taller than the Bank of America tower. I would remove Steam/Essex because it is dead so is 5 Allen Center.- 1,896 replies

Great idea but far too late. When we voted for METRO SOLUTIONS it did not include subway. So, if we change it, METRO will have to do a new study which takes years. We also have to vote for it. They already have the light rail study we just needs the funding. Something must be done on Richmond Ave. it is falling apart. I cannot understand TXDOT builds a $2 billion freeway (KATY) which there was no vote and is already congested. I never go out there and we cannot build the major link in the city core. I think you are wrong about the stops. My car was in the shop off Westheimer and Taft. They had buses running 5 minutes apart and I hoped on one and was took in 5 minutes for $1.00. Now I don't mind taking the bus to Wheeler Station to connect to the rail and go Downtown.

Where is KTRK Ch 13's Dave Ward ?
nativehoustonion replied to Blue Dogs's topic in Houston and the Media
Subway no. If METRO wanted to change it to a subway. They have to go back and do a study to submit to the government which takes years. They already have a study for the line. All they need to do is get funding. Why do we build a $2 billion dollar freeway (Katy) that already is congested. And we cannot build another light rail line for the core of the city? Meanwhile Richmond Ave. is falling apart I drove on it last night what a nightmare. Plus subway is not part of the Metro Solutions that we voted for. To build a subway we may have to go back and vote for it. It is a great plan but far too late.- 5 replies
