Very elegant. The Bentley suggests it is going to be too pricey for me. Now if that were a used Hyundai.......

They are tearing through this at an amazing pace but to be fair, these folks had to knock down a small mattress store, the Texas tower the old Chronicle building.- 1,032 replies

Development List For Buildings In Houston
Twinsanity02 replied to houstonsemipro's topic in Going Up!
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the Houston MSA added 111,100 new jobs in 2018. Don't know the correlation with this and population growth, but it suggests that the population growth is zooming upward rapidly. -

I've been hearing about block 98 kicking off in the near future numerous times. These folks have pushed this back several times. They were suppose to break ground this first quarter. They are in such a choice location I am puzzled as to all these delays.

Development List For Buildings In Houston
Twinsanity02 replied to houstonsemipro's topic in Going Up!
According to GaWC Houston in 2018 is ranked an Alpha minus world city, slightly above Dallas, Atlanta, Boston (Beta plus) but at par with DC, Prague, and Rome. Does anyone know what this exactly means? -
Bobruss makes many excellent points. The construction of apartments and condos within the Loop has been breathtaking. Midtown used to be a wasteland and look at it now. Downtown was impressive, but isolated skyscrapers with almost no night life except the theater district .I believe the construction rate surpasses that of the 1970's to early 1980's. It's going to be interesting to see what the inner loop population is in the next census. I don't believe ( or wish ) to attain the population densities of Hong Kong, Sao Paulo, or Tokyo, Nevertheless the urbannization taking place is splendid. All this even after H. Harvey. What a great city this is.

It isn't going to happen in Houston. Folks here love their AC. I find the tunnels useful on rainy days or excessively hot days. I agree that, in my opinion, the tunnels are used excessively, but so what? People will choose what they prefer. When I walk through Uptown I see very few pedestrians there also even though the area is replete with apartments and no tunnel system. I suppose the good side is I never get jostled when I walk.

Twinsanity02 replied to Astro's topic in Texas Medical Center
The US and Texas economy has ups and it has downs. There is nothing unusual about that. Houston's economy, especially the Med Center area, tends to have an upward trajectory. Look at photos of the TMC 30 or 20 years ago and look at it now- 220 replies

1.6 million square feet in a 48 story building. 609 Main is 48 stories and has just over 1.07 million square feet. The base must have a large volume for this building- 220 replies

My brother lived in both midtown and the upper east side of Manhattan for several years. Staring at other skyscrapers across the street is a common situation there. It is happening in some areas of Houston.- 1,032 replies

I am glad for this. Anything which boosts Houston is good. But let us not forget that Houston already has the Menninger Clinic which has a world wide reputation for mental health care.
