  1. Great photo. Hines has really dug himself into a hole. Looks 35 to 40 feet deep.
  2. I agree regarding the terrain. Nevertheless as a professor in one of the biological sciences I find the Houston area and the Big Thicket amazing for its plant and animal variety. I've never seen a metro area with what appear to be three ecological zones: Prairie like west Houston, The Jungle like thickets of North Houston, and the marshy wetlands of Southeast Houston. Eye candy for folks in biology.
  3. On one of the slides it shows the old Post Office site and it says "potential detention". I suppose this refers to a detention pond. Anyone know?
  4. Beautiful building if they stick to the renderings. Will add to Uptown. Waiting to see what happens to the empty lot across BLVD place/Hanover towers. That lot almost begs for a high rise.
  5. Emporis ( for what it's worth) reports this at 631 feet. When built it will be the tallest residential in the city. The Eclipse is stated at 736 feet, but I've have heard nothing regarding construction.
  6. Do I understand this correctly? The very ugly chronicle garage is going to be replaced by this beautiful high rise apartment building? Say it's so Joe.
  7. Just make sure it doesn't flood. I worked at UT Med. Back in 2001 the basement and first floor flooded. What a disaster that was.
  8. Getting somewhat back on topic, does anyone know how many high rise apartment/condos ring Hermann Park and vicinity? I can imagine in the not too distant future most of the Park will be rung by highrises.
  9. Most folks that I speak with from the Porter New Caney area are lukewarm about the project. Too much big talk and small results. They have taken a wait and see attitude
  10. I don't like surface lots either, especially the ones near the old Exxon building and the ones near the Toyota Center, nevertheless there has been a great decrease from just a few years ago. Things are moving in the right direction.
  11. Got on 288 north from the South Loop. As I climbed the ramp, was stunned at the skyline view. Has anyone photographed Houston from this angle? A restaurant or night club in a mid to highrise at this location would have a magnificent view of the Houston skyline.
  12. That comes out to a total of approximately 12,100,000 dollars in total payments. The year 30 rent is around 450,000. To my poor self sounds like a lot of dough. What would it cost if it were bought outright ( if he were willing to sell)?
  13. Houston's freeways do appear more littered than other places. Perhaps some is due to the large number of pickup trucks we have. As useful as they are, things blow easily out the back. When I owned one I remember a few times that happened.
  14. Uptown Houston as defined being west of 610 is approximately 26 million square feet. Adding all those buildings east of 610 would push it over 30 million I would guess.
  15. On the bright side, there appears to be no threat to Michaelangelo or Giovanni Gaulli. Don't have to worry about hoards of tourists.
  16. Looking at the map provided, the bridges are part of the Elysian St. bridge. The Hardy Toll road extension merges with Elysian, north of the bridge or so it seems. Two other Hardy Toll Rd. connections are east of the bridge, connecting to I-69.
