  1. great links red, thanks. the maps make it clear that the richmond line is the logical next step. perhaps what these businesses fear most is the construction period? many of the locations served by the richmond line are places that i visit on a regular basis. this line would give me, a woodlands' resident, more reason to park my vehicle when coming in to town. isn't this the goal, or at least part of it? if the line were placed where it's convenient politically/financially (westpark), i would have no reason to ride it. what's up with martha wong?
  2. unfortunately, this property has been mentioned in the past as available for possible development. my hope was that it would continue to be a gateway to parkspace from the park shops, four seasons, etc. it will be sad if the park shops renovation "opens up" to the park space and then the finger company sticks them with a view of the backside of some mediocre residential structure.
  3. Governance forum set for Feb. 25 By: TIFFANY WILLIAMS, Villager staff 02/02/2006 Members of the Governance Steering Committee are inviting residents to a communitywide forum Feb. 25 to discuss the governance issues in The Woodlands. The event, which takes place from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 25 at Sts. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, located at 26777 Glen Loch Drive, allows residents and property owners the opportunity engage in discussion to aid the plan of study for the GSC, representatives who determine future courses of action for governance in The Woodlands, said Peggy Hausman, a representative from The Woodlands Community Services Corporation. full story the saga continues
  4. the lot has been cleared for the taco milagro location at six pines and lake robbins. i hate seeing those pine trees gone, but i'm looking forward to the new restaurant and increased pedestrian activity.
  5. that being said redscare, i was sorely disappointed when the houston-galveston line coming in to the station at the ballpark didn't work out in the initial or previous plans for union station. i think a line connecting nasa/seabrook would be excellent and would enhance our connection to galveston and it's connection to us (as you've said previously). also, great thread. it's beginning to feel like the old haif around here.
  6. Taco Milagro, Steak 'n' Shake hunger for The Woodlands Allison Wollam Houston Business Journal Restaurants chains Taco Milagro and Steak 'n' Shake are planning to expand into The Woodlands. full story
  7. hey red, i used to frequent the hole to play pool with my buddies (late 90's). hated the place, but it was the closest thing to a pub around. i was the guy who always knew the trivia questions over "the arts". ohhh, the looks i used to get.
  8. that's the first i've heard of steve and barry's. there are announcements pending for the retail at 21 waterway avenue and 25 waterway avenue. there is also space still available at market street. town center is bordered by woodlands parkway on the south, lake front circle on the north (i think), i-45 on the east and grogan's mill on the west. market street, the waterway, the marriott & convention center, the mall, pinecroft center are all within the confines of "town center". town center map
  9. A Russian restaurant opens in The Woodlands. Has anyone tried this yet? Authentic Russian Restaurant is Delicious and Informative By: SUSAN SUMMERS, Contributing Each night it's the same question: "What to do about dinner?" There's always Mexican food, Chinese take-out and of course, the old stand-by, pizza delivery. But next time, how about thinking Russian? link
  10. the woodlands mall is quite successful. there are new stores on the horizon and others expanding. so far, much of the new businesses i've read about that are going in near or on the waterway will be entertainment oriented (restaurants, bars, etc.) and will not compete directly with stores in the mall or at market street. it will be interesting to see if the mall parking lots on the waterway side become more high-density, mixed use developments (like the new lifestyle mall extension). there is now an empty mervyn's on this side as well as a mall entrance that was originally intended for another anchor store.
  11. great new feature editor. would you want any woodlands' pictures? (anadarko tower, waterway marriott & convention center, 21 waterway avenue, waterway lofts, public art works, etc.)

  15. 16. i've always admired the panels/tiles on this side of the building. (currently, i could use 1000 square feet of tile. ) i do prefer adaptive reuse rather than demolition; however, this building has been empty for quite some time. the property is in a great location. hopefully something will happen soon, one way or the other.
  17. mi luna's on friday & saturdays after 9pm more specifically. cru, a wine bar is great for a date. expect announcements on new more "nightlife" oriented business early this year. there are some other sawdust road area hangouts for the twenty-year old set; however, i can't recommend them.
  18. i just had lunch at beck's prime in grogan's mill. we sat out on the lake by the resort and conference center. after feeding the ducks and enjoying the surroundings, a beaver-like rodent swam up near our table. we were thinking it might be a beaver until it came out of the water and did not have the flat tail. it had a rat's tail! it looks like what i've seen on tv as a "neutra". are these things in southeast texas? my picturesque lunch in the nature-focused woodlands was interrupted by........NATURE!!! has anyone else seen these creatures?
