  1. it's symbolism over substance. truly sad use of resources. why couldn't they raise money to build a halfway house or drug treatment facility? too practical and complex. it is far easier to shout "hallelujah" or build something that says "look at how spiritual we are" and pray for change. sad.
  2. southwest corner of six pines and the waterway is the proposed site for the HMNS location. it is directly in front of the riva row townhomes and across the waterway from the pavilion/marriott parking garage. the new waterway square building is off the ground and they are pouring the foundation for the new parking garage/retail that will be attached to or directly next to the 20 story condo tower. i noticed that the windows on the second floor retail space of 24 waterway ave are papered over. harvey construction was using the space, but it appears something else may be going on. hubbel & hudson on the street level of the same building is supposed to be finished by the holidays and the four restaurants going in across from goose's acre & americas appear to be almost completely framed. no announcement yet on the tenants. there is a temporary surface parking lot going in at the north east corner of six pines & lake robbins. this is the lot where they have the ice rink during the holidays.
  3. Recently, "Friend-Who-Saw-Paris-First" treated me to Pink Martini with the Houston Symphony. We thought it a good night to try out The Grove. The decor is very now. Minimal, modern yet comfortable… Click here to view the full review at Yelp.com

  5. looks like a crane is going up at the condo tower/parking garage-retail site. anyone know anything of the restaurants going in at 20 waterway? hubbel & huddleston (i think it's called) is said to be open in october on the ground floor of 24 waterway. lunched at americas a couple times this month. really good food and the decor is amazing. also, the parking garage for us oncology appears to be huge. i wonder if it is to support two more buildings. a construction guy from harvey said another building is already in the works near to or next to us oncology.
  6. woodlands parkway overpass at grogan's mill to be more specific. i never oversleep because the noise level goes up after 6:30am. keep us posted on your findings.
  7. hubbel & hudson faces lake robbins & waterway avenue. so, technically, it's not on waterway square. i'm looking forward to find out what restaurants are going in. the steel structure is being completed at 20 waterway and is supposed to house four restaurants. i haven't come across any announcements yet. anyone interested in leaking some info.....be my guest.
  8. woody, will you post your findings when you get the chance? it will be interesting. also, if you'd like to measure near woodlands parkway & grogan's mill...........?
  9. road surface noise reduction i found this commentary on the subject. i read a japanese study on this issue as well. it seems that the maximum benefit is 2-8 db and road noise can be 40-47 db. i'm not sure how to put that in real terms. my home is about 125 feet from woodlands parkway. if i knew there would be a 20% decrease in noise, i'd be all for it. i'm not sure if a 5% decrease would be worth the expense. do you have other information on the subject?
  10. Very exciting. I wondered as I was reading the article if anyone had mentioned it here. WTG Scott Tycer!
  11. major housing and commercial developments have always been planned for this area. the article is poorly written and the alarmist undertone is unnecessary. it isn't a big deal. there are currently four-five story condos in eastshore. any sixteen story buildings will be along grogan's mill. the article states that mitchell island will have nothing over six stories but then in the outline couples it with the pennzoil tract which could have sixteen stories. this makes it appear that mitchell island could have up to sixteen stories. also, it's "parameter" not "perameter". i wonder if they allow the use of spell check at the chronicle or if that feature is unavailable to beth kuhles & adam bennett.
  12. car cd player - amy winehouse kitchen - yo yo ma & nat king cole bedroom - elo (electric light orchestra - zoom), k.d.lang (watershed) & william orbit (strange cargo)
  13. 1 dewthread ct has either been sold or leased. haven't been able to find out which. i noticed a golf course home, 185 timber mill, on the market for 180k with minimal upgrades.
  14. it looks like the rendering has been removed from the original link. did anyone save it?
  15. i spoke with a harvey construction employee on the elevator this week. he said there is one or more office buildings planned for the space directly west of us oncology.
  16. condo tower, parking garage & retail location. the trees to the left are being removed and the ground preparation begins soon, according to a pm realty employee.
  17. us oncology construction picture from 24 waterway.
  18. i called the post oak location on thursday. the hostess said may 5th is the day. many people at the office are looking forward to the opening.
  19. A preview of Americas in the Woodlands This just in: designers' renderings and opening menu for the second location of Michael Cordua's Americas, his long-awaited project in the Woodlands Mall. get it right allison. the mall is a whole other ball game. Studio Gaia Cordua has engaged the architectural firm of Studio Gaia, led by its founder Ilan Waisbrod, to design the modern pan-American restaurant. Waisbrod & company are responsible for such high-profile projects as he W hotels in Seoul and Mexico City; Tao Las Vegas restaurant in the Venetian; the 40/40 Club owned by Jay-Z; and Wave restaurant in the W Chicago hotel. Their style is crisp and (mostly) minimal, with strong linear elements and provocative seating, often including chairs and ottomans in organic egg, pod or hemispherical shapes. full story & renderings
  20. our minds are branded, like cattle.
  21. branding is the idea that if you see something enough, it is the first "brand" you'll think of when you go to buy a particular item or service. a mild form of brainwashing for the unsuspecting masses. mwahaahaahaaa!
