  1. Ah, but that allows you time to really get to know the panhandlers who are always hanging out at that intersection.
  2. Thanks for the info. I didn't know that AFH had vacated the Norfolk property. Link to listing here. 1715 - 1717 Norfolk This is a cash transaction to AIDS Foundation Houston. This property is located in the Richwood Place subdivision which is deed restricted. A copy of the restrictive convenants is available upon request. The site can be used for single family construction, but not multi-family. The property is currently improved with a small, 20 unit apartment/group home facility. Selling the property for land value only. Asking price: $1.5M
  3. I'm so very sorry that your dogs couldn't be saved. Obviously, you did everything within your power. Please take comfort in knowing they were in a loving home in their last days. It sounds like BARC needs to be reviewed, both for funding and administration. Do you know who we can contact to remedy this situation?
  4. What an ugly, nasty, insulting piece of crap! Weren't we told that the semi-circular design of the original plaza would be reflected in the new structure? Lies! LIES! This time, I'll make an exception: Get out the spray paint and TAG that sucker!
  5. Please refresh my memory; where and what is Camden Travis? I'm assuming it's on Travis....
  6. May I suggest The Avant Garden (411 Westheimer - formerly Helios, The Mausoleum) and Agora (1712 Westheimer)?
  7. Um, no, dbigtex. Referring to black males as boys is a slanderous term. Calling "marriage" the same thing it's been called in almost every society in history does not slander anyone. Um, yes. Your point (if, indeed, you have one) is that the word 'marriage' shouldn't be profaned by applying it to a union of fags or dykes. Try as you might to pretty it up, that's the basis of your argument. If not, why not call a marriage by its proper name, rather than this (not good as marriage, therefore slanderous) "civil union" nonsense? Your contention that calling marriage the same thing it's been called "in almost every society in history" is so fatuous as to provoke disgusted, pitying chuckles. Really?! The Romans called it marriage? The French? The Chinese? The Iroquois? Consult a dictionary. Yes, some definitions use the terms "man and woman" and "husband and wife". They also include "The act of marrying or the ceremony of being married; a wedding." "Any close union."
  8. Largest contiguous privately funded climate controlled pedestrian facilities (i.e., the tunnel system)? Feel free to disprove it.
  9. "How many of them hormones you takin', honey?"
  10. Very brave, to admit being the author of that pap. I know, I know...perhaps you haven't had the advantages I've had.
  11. To my astonishment, TheNiche and I agree. On a recent Sunday afternoon, I took a walking tour of downtown Houston. Could I buy a simple sandwich or soda? Hell, NO! What a dreary, depressing place! Any Rust Belt city surpasses Houston's downtown. Daily Show reference
  12. Crazy name? Try to best Jew Don Boney. His parents must have hated him.
  13. Crazy name? Try to best Jew Don Boney. His parents must have hated him.
  14. Good observation (and welcome back to HAIF). I've never understood why W. Alabama hasn't taken off as an urban destination street.
  15. You've explained a lot. And I needed a good laugh. Thanks.
  16. The phrase "higher and better" is tossed around as if it means something. Some people think that it means that certain irreplacible attributes ought to be protected; others think that economic forces are the sole criterium. What does "higher and better" mean to you?
  17. With the usual disclaimer, "I'm no lawyer, but..." That's my understanding, too. How inprecise. Thanks again, RedScare.
  18. From the website: The Museum of Houston is a digital repository and online museum accessed through the Internet.
  19. Very possible. In this instance, leaving the thread up seems like an appropriate punishment.
  20. A timely reminder: we're less than two weeks away from the beginning of hurricane season. If you have trees which might lose limbs or topple in high winds, and they're within striking distance of power lines, now is the time to report them to Centerpoint. A bit of trimming now can save a lot of headaches in the future.
  21. The review is an absolute rave. Having never been to Irma's, I'm itching to go. However, the following gave me pause: (the lack of printed menus is) a shrewd businesswoman’s way of warmly dodging the question of prices. Galvan charges a fair price for the labor that goes into those seemingly simple dishes—prices most people aren’t used to paying for Mexican food. I'll assume that means higher. How do prices run at Irma's ? Shrewd businesswoman or not, I hate getting sucker-punched by an unexpectedly high bill.
  22. You have to admit it's a fair question if you're someone who trolls for young men around the bathhouses or not when you have a crazy arse name like MidtownCoog. cougar
