My first time there, I remember seeing a couple of the niches in the wall that had a bare light bulb hanging by the wiring. Man, you just can't buy class like that!
I went there last about 6 or 7 years ago on a blind date. It was a lot of fun, even if I was the only one in the place not drinking.

WestU, Napoleon Square opened in the early 70s. Sections A and B in the northeast quarter opened first. I moved in with a friend in Section C while an apartment in D was completed in September of

Back in the "good ol' days", when you went to Athens Bar and Grill, they would check you for weapons at the door. If they didn't find any, they issued you one!

The roundabout on Kelly crossing US59 was a death trap! I hated that damned thing. The one at Gulf Freeway was bad until they put the lights in. There was and may still be one on the south end of Washburn Tunnel. I didn't mind that one for some reason. Seems like it was much larger than the others.

Gosh...all this thread needs now is somebody playing a fife in the background.
I hope somebody gets that one....

There was a report last night that many jazz musicians are leaving town because the little dive joints that once featured jazz now play R&R because it is favored by customers. Even street jazz musicians are becoming a rarity there.

This post title had me thinking of a different solution before I read the whole post. I was gonna suggest you get better running shoes to help your cat chase that dog!

(POSTED MON. FEB 5 6 PM)
The new owner of the Inwood Forest Golf and Country Club is NOT Renaissance Golf Group, LLC. It is a separate partnership named Inwood Forest Partners, LP. This new partnership apparently includes many, if not all, of the principals of
Renaissance Golf Group, LLC. Richard Cook is a limited partner in the Inwood Forest Partners and will serve as General Manager at Inwood Forest; he also is the General Manager at Quail Valley.
In a notice today that was sent to club members describe some changes to operations effective immediately.
1. North and West courses will be open for play.
2. The Golf shop will be open.
3. All food and beverage services will be closed
4. 30 days from Feb 5 the Inwood Forest Club will be permanently closed.

There are a few Steak and Ale restaurants still at their original locations. I think they have very good food, and the salad bar is one of my all-time favorites.

That article was in The Leader, a neighborhood weekly. It covers a large area from the Heights up to the far northwest. They are thrown at individual houses, but you can find them at many stores and restaurants in the area. The office is on Rosslyn just north of W 34th.Today, the guy that did my inspection on my house in Inwood sent me a email saying: Just FYI, there was an article in a local free paper this week that the I.F. golf course has been sold to an outfit that buys struggling courses and turns them around. This paper is not on the web. There wasn't anything about it in the ChronicleIt would be AWESOME if they fixed up the course..maybe changed it to a 18 hole public course and built some houses on the other 9 holes!! Think there is another meeting about it next week.

Amen, TBird. A-men!

You know, when you think of someone as a disgusting pig, with no redeeming values, I find it just a tad hypocritical to turn around and mourn their passing. While I am not exactly jumping up and down in joy, I am certainly not going to shed a tear.

TBird, my mom came to Bastrop yesterday, and that was the first time I have had to really talk with her. She told me that she met Josephine at Polar Wave, and met her brother, Jimmy, there, too. Mom did skate there, but she worked there as well, and that
