The location I went to was on the South Loop around Mykawa. All I recall them having was furniture. I didn't know they had appliances. But I wasn't in the market for appliances, so maybe that's why I didn't notice.
My couch was a brown fake fur. In a way it was kinda neat 'cause it felt good to - uh, "cuddle" on with a lady. It just didn't hold up. And it wasn't so easy to clean.

I believe Westheimer Road was named for the family that owned a large section of land in that area. I thought

I bought a couch from them (K&C). In fact, it was the very first new piece of furniture I ever acquired. It was pretty cheap, costwise. And the old adage proved true that you get what you pay for - it wasn't long before it fell apart.

That's fine with me, too. Ma Nature can have that whole State as far as I'm concerned. If we don't help New Orleans, then I sure as hell hope my tax dollars have re-built Los Angeles and San Francisco for the last time. -

The whole argument here seems to be about health care coverage. That is not the problem. The real issue should be skyrocketing health care costs, as well as astronomical prescription costs.
I heard this some time back, but I can

I'm not privy to every little thing that happens in Iraq, but I would say that my observation is that since the beginning of the year things quieted down quite a lot over there, then in the last week things got worse. I'm not sure why all of a sudden.
There are about a dozen regular HAIFers currently in Iraq. Maybe one or more of them will give us a first-hand perspective.
It could be because of the "State of the Union Address" tonight.
I heard today that some factions don't necessarily want to make one party or the other look bad. Rather they want to expand the rift between the two parties. I thought that was an interesting concept.

I'm sure there were a number of watermelon stands around Houston. The one near us was on North Shepherd and, I believe, 26th. There was a small produce market on one corner, and the watermelon stand was on the other.
You could buy the melon whole, or by the slice. If you bought it whole, they would "plug" the melon by making three deep cuts, then removing the plug so the buyer could see if it was ripe or not. When the customer was satisfied, the plug was simply reinserted.

Hmmmm, I wonder when that photo was taken, Subdude?

Since posting my reply, I got to thinking about the Newgulf area. I can almost remember the bends in the highway, and there was one in particular that, as soon as you passed it, the two stacks came into view. I guess I even made a game of trying to spot them as soon as I could.
I also recall that, depending upon the prevailing winds, sometimes I would smell the sulfur before I spotted the stacks. Rarely did we pass the place that the odor of sulfur wasn

Actually, it is in Aldine ISD.

We "escaped" IF about a year and a half ago. Actually, it was mostly an escape from Houston, but Inwood lost it's desirability. What has been said is very correct in that there are some great deals to be had there. However, there was no positive indication that resale value would increase anywhere near other areas.
Much of out time revolved around the CC. When I was injured a few years back, I could no longer play golf, so my reason for being a member suddenly ended. Besides, things really went downhill after Mr. Smith died. Stacy (his daughter) tried a number of things to keep it going, but too many things were wrong with it.
My house was in Timbergrove, but I stayed in IF with my GF. When I quit the club, I lost all interest in the area, sold my house and bought a home in Bastrop. GF sold her house there, and now has a home in Cedar Creek.
GF still keeps in touch with people formerly with the club, but, not only have they quit, others they keep in touch with quit as well, so we have no more inside sources.
Another problem is all the flooding in IF. Measures have been taken to alleviate that, but some areas still flood. Also, many houses have been bought out and razed by ???
