  1. Good feedback. However, there is still a fine line that has not been defined. I wouldn
  2. I think people are too quick to label a person either because of group affiliation, or by beliefs in particular issues. The fact that I was initially for, and continue to support the war in Iraq does not mean I am a Republican. The fact that I support gay rights and reproductive rights does not make me a Democrat. Conversely, my being a Republican or a Democrat would not mean I would support every issue that party stood for. I think Cheney the man is basically a decent and honorable guy, and one who brings a great deal to the table, be it politically of in business. I have heard him his discourse on a number of issues, and I think he is a genius. I don
  3. I was quite surprised how generous many of you are when it comes to tipping barbers. So that made me wonder how generous you all are with others. If you take your car in to have the oil changed or get new tires, do you tip the service people? Do you tip the person who checks your groceries? When you buy clothes, do you tip if a clerk who helps you in any way? Just what services do you tip for?
  4. I was wondering; how many of you guys tip your barber, and how much? I have been searching for a barber here in Bastrop, and I think I found a winner at last. My GF was with me, and she questioned me as to how big a tip I left the barber. She chided me when I told her I left $1 for a $10 charge. Now, I
  5. With all the posts about various area sports teams, I am disappointed that no one has mentioned that Rice will play in its first bowl game in many years when they face Troy in the Flooded Bowl
  6. Bastrop! It's a great place to visit AND a great place to live! Come this Saturday (the 9th) for the Christmas Festival. There is a home tour, crafts sales and a gool, old fashioned parade at 6PM.
  7. With a Little Help From My Friends?Help, Lady Madona! Please, Please Me. Love, Love Me Do on this Hard Day
  8. I wonder if this is what The Beatles had in mind when they wrote that song? I sure hope my wrist is fully healed in time sos I can participate!
  9. Back in the early 70s when I was fresh out of the Navy, and broke on my butt, I survived for periods at a time by eating one meal a day at buffets. Pancho's was very cheap back then, and I ate there for lunch 7 days in a row, the last day being a Saturday. A friend offered to take me out to dinner Saturday evening, and guess where he wanted to go? Eight meals at Pancho's in seven days - that may be a record!
  10. Uh, this isn't about the Gold Cup on 290 and Pinemont, is it?
  11. BW, have you checked out Leisure Learning classes? There was a lady who gave Chinese coking classes, and there were other fares as well. Not sure what is being offered now. I always wanted to take some classes but never got a round tuit.
  12. This sounds as dangerous an endeavor as giving a wife a membership to Bally
  13. Does anyone else find it a tad ironic that Richards apologized to the Black community for his racist remarks by going on the radio show of Jesse Jackson, himself a renowned racist?
  14. I agree, Coog. I doubt King's methods and message would go over today. He would probably be respected, but, much like Bill Cosby, people would tend to listen more to those like Jackson who want to blame others rather than being told to quit blaming others and do it themselves. There is real poverty in the US today, and Poverty knows no color lines. But I think there is a tendency to call it poverty when the "haves" are eating filet mignon, and all the impoverished can afford is hamburger or pork chops.
  15. Candy Bars Baby Ruth is named for Babe Ruth. O'Henry is named for Henry Aaron. Now they have a candy bar named for John Kerry!
  16. Did Rosie get an invite to the TomKat wedding? If not, do you think she will get revenge by outing Cruise?
  17. Not sure I blame Clay as my impulse is to gag that silly dame every time she opens her mouth. She is annoying as all get out! As to Rosie "outing" Clay, that was done a long time ago by Kathy Griffin, calling him "Clay Gaykin".
  18. I want to see a program called,
  19. The City of Marble Falls tried this not long ago. They included places like McDonald's and other fast food places, as well as other stores that didn't necessarily cater to kids, but that were frequented by minors. They drew circles around each and every establishment, and the entire city limits was covered, meaning no sex offender could live in Marble Falls. Now, I am all for very stiff sentences, but there has to be limits. People want to impose the death penalty for repeat offenders. That means someone could be executed for patting a couple of teens on the butt as they passed by. Criminal sexual abuse of a minor for sure, but the death penalty? Here
  20. Actually, Red, the employers don't get off Scott Free. The city issues every one of them both a wink and a nod. That'll show 'em!
  21. I am a third GenTexan, and possibly a fourth, so naturally I am proud to be a Texan. Not only am I proud of this State, but I am Proud of Texans
  22. There is an aspect of this case that I see as definately racist. How can you go after illegals as well as their landlords, and let employers go unpunished, and even avoid being charged. The first step in curbing illegal immigration is to cut off their source of income. But, nobody has the casabas to take that action.
