If you feel scandalous, then how about the Chicago Black Sex?

You know, there was some connection here that was running around in the back of my mind, and I think I finally know what it is. I believe that Mike Persia became Chuck Davis, and the same jingle was used for Davis.
Boom ba ba boom ba ba boom ba ba
"Buy your Chevrolet from Davis. Chuck Davis Chevrolet.
Anybody agree with that?
As to Peacock, I think it was Tom Peacock, but I don't know where they were. He has a Cadillac dealership on the North Freeway, so maybe that was a Chevrolet place before that.

Well, heck! I thought this was gonna be about baseball and the Boston Red Sex.

According to my late dad, the first location was at 6100 Gulf Freeway in what used to be (may still be) the Houston Office Center. It is the one with the oil derrick in front. If you look at the buildings, you might agree that it is obvious since the place looks like it was designed by an engineer rather than an architect.

Nope.could it have been the Schlumberger park on I-45 S? -
When Houston was chosen to be home to the new space center, NASA built a temporary facility in Houston while the Johnson Space Center was being constructed in Clear Lake.
Does anyone know where that facility was? It is still in operation today as an office park.

I am positive that Gulfgate was before Northline, maybe by some 5-10 years.

I, too think Gulfgate was the first. Maybe there is a distinction between a shopping center and a mall? If they are the same, then I think Gulfgate was the first.
The last time I was by Palm Center was well over 20 years ago. It was all boarded up and resembled a war zone.

Tradewinds on W 34th just off 290 is still there. However, it is closed and for sale.

If the slab cracks apart, I guess you could blame it on the chapter about Moses and his parting ways.

I picked Tahiti, but I really meant Tahitian Village in Bastrop in a house overlooking Pine Forest Golf course and the miles beyond. Where my place is now is on Cedar Creek south of 304 and pretty much isolated. But I wouldn

I remember seeing it a few times, but it was rare that we had occasion to go out 290, so my memory was limited and sketchy. It wasn

That was before the invention of the weather rock, wasn't it?I can remember standing in my front yard which was miles from downtown, out off of Holmes Rd. & checking the weather prediction on the "weather globe."One of my favorite places growing up was at the corner of Shepherd and W 12th - an icehouse called Birdie

If memory serves me, there is a racetrack in College Station and one in Dallas, correct? Are either of them making any money?

That would be the F&M Dairy. The sign was a dairy cow.

Yes, that would be Brays.

Was Gene sober when you met him? He was quite renowned for his drinking, and, in fact, had to be tied to his saddle when he led off at least one of the rodeo parades years back.

I think the pedestrians you encountered were the exception rather than the rule.
Actually, Heights Annex goes from 13th to 16th from Lowell (now Shepherd) to the city limits at what is now Dian. This is according to a 1930 map.
Dan Rather was raised there on Prince between 14th and 15th. The last time I drove by his house, it was either fixed up or torn down. The fixed up house looked like his, but it was hard to tell from the improvements. The house to the north of that house had been razed. The empty lot is the first Heights Annex house I am aware of that is being replaced with a new structure. Maybe it is the start of a renovation of the neighborhood.
There are two sleeper areas I like there. One is 15th

Wyatt's Cafetaria was bought out by Luby's, including the one in Merchant's Park on 11th and Shepherd. It and some of the others are all-you-can-eat joints now. I wonder if the quality is any better?
