  1. The only thing I know about the place is that once upon a time, Milby Park did not have air quality issues!
  2. I mentioned this before, but I think the Post Office should rent that building while they raze the old place and build a new facility.
  3. My girlfriend and I always joke about guys who drive Hummers and huge pickups as being
  4. Whole Foods could find competition from the Farmer's Market on Airline. I know the Market is not organic, but many would take fresh over organic any day.
  5. Those are some nice scenes, but something seemed amiss. Then it hit me
  6. dbigtex not only has the right idea, I think that is the only method to control the illegal alien problem. We need to go after, not just homebuilders, but any employer who hires an undocumented worker. There is the argument made that illegal workers are beneficial because they do the jobs that legal Americans consider themselves above doing. That is true to a degree. However, anyone in the construction business would have to admit that more and more skilled and semi-skilled workers are illegals. We got 4 quotes on painting and miscellaneous repairs done on the house which we are now selling. Three of the quotes ranged from $2600-4000. We also got a quote by an illegal to placate a friend who wanted us to use the guy. His quote was $700. Were I an unscrupulous sort, I would have gone with the illegal and cut the three legitimate workers out of the process. This scenario happens all the time, and good, honest, legal workers are finding it difficult to make a decent wage. We have to begin fining and confining employers who hire illegals. If we cut off the source of income for them, they will (hopefully) return to Mexico on their own, and we won
  7. Perhaps the Someburger is a separate property that he has purchased in another transaction. The burger joint could continue to operate until the property behind is completed, Then Someburger could become a parking lot. This is strictly speculation, mind you.
  8. You mean This One I assume. The tunnel links France to Italy.
  9. Bernie Kane was the one being interviewed by KHOU (Channel 11) this morning. He claimed that he changed the name of the company to Juliet when he realized that 75% of buyers were women. Up Close: Who's driving Houston's real estate market?
  10. I see they are enlarging the Home Depot on the North Loop. They are adding on to the south end, and they are expanding the parking lot to 25th Street. That will also give them an additional entrance from the south.
  11. OK, I saw the mint green house the other day. It is nice for sure, but it
  12. I went downtown to watch the Lamar come down. It was the only time I have seen a building brought down like that. Really cool!
  13. According to what I heard on the news, Juliet Homes caters to chicks!
  14. I drove down North Main from downtown recently, and I noticed that very little has changed from the North Main I remember from my high school days.
  15. If the Saints care about their fans, then they should relocate to somewhere where there is a cheap supply of brown paper bags.
  16. This is probably not what you are looking for, but you may find it useful. It
  17. One of the things that gave me the biggest kick was to watch a boat racing across Lake Travis toward the shore to the right, turn and slowly motor past Hippie Hollow, then crank it to full throttle and speed back across the lake from where they came. Real subtle, huh?
  18. Austin landmark, The Oasis Restaurant, burned down Wednesday morning. Although the Oasis offered one of the most spectacular views in all the Hill Country, the food there was some of the worst I have ever had. It makes me question the cause of this fire. The owners have vowed to rebuild. I loved going there, so I hope they rebuild their food quality as well.
  19. I think it was the green hue that some were attracted to.
