  1. If the rockets can win game 2 then the blazers will and desire will be really down and crushed if it is another blowout. I do not want to give this team a shoot at thinking they can beat us. So win or lose tonight they must win every game at home. Go Rockets!

  2. Do those twin towers look like a upgraded version of Anadarko Corporate Office in The Woodlands to anybody else? This would be a great add to Houston if it gets built. This project looks out of place for Houston, but in a good way. I feel like this was something that came out of Miami. I like the new walkway from Relient park, I always felt that bridge would just fall for some reason. Great project if it gets built or not.

  3. They don't. Most of the cost is being paid by the city and county.

I'm happy the design isn't yet another retro job from HOK, although one blog compared it to a bagel slicer.

It's a minor point, but I'm also glad they're changing the name to Miami Marlins.

It really does look like a slicer when the roofs open. Nice stadium though. They should not build the stadium because I dobt anybody would really care if the marlins even left for some other city becaus no one comes to those games.

  4. I think what some people are worried about is what is Houston back up plan if or when oil is no longer dominate. New Tech is making transportaion with less and less gas possible, While Oil companies new tech is to go dig deeper for oil or use less oil platforms. I think where some differ on here is how difersified is the Houston energy sector, if at all. About 40% of our economy is energy and I think out of that 40 most is in oil.

  5. Houston has so many Fortune 500 corporations that call it home, but most are oil related. I do not doubt Houston can get non-oil related companies, but will we go and get them? Being an energy strong economy is not bad it is when oil is no longer the main source of energy, and the only energy you produce is oil is when it gets bad. When oil is no longer the main soure of energy then what is Houston going to do? Out of our top 10 Fortune 500 Companies in Houston only three are non-oil related. How diversefied is Houston in the Energy sector is the main question because as humans we are going to need energy, but it will not always be oil. I just don't think our energy sector is diversifed like some say. When oil is making porfits like never before, I just don't see why ConocoPhilips and Exxon are going to diversife itself. Oil is the king of energy and when the world is going to need more oil then it ever did before in the coming years, why would would they leave their cash crop to see what wind energy is going to do?

  6. Memphis-Mizzou might be a great warm up too...

Oh, and I will add the obligatory "Texas got robbed"

And before anyone says anything I know we had too many turnovers and missed too many free-throws (we have no one to blame but ourselves), but those calls at the end of the game (especially the foul under the basket on Damian James called by the BACK JUDGE were bull....to put it mildly.

I know right I think Texas should have won. They had a chance but I could not believe some of those calls either. They missed some at the line some layups and you have to be on it when play a school like Duke because they are going to get the close calls(and just bad ones too) as we saw in the game.

  7. Anybody think Big12 will be 12-0 on Monday? If UT and A&M upset Duke and UCONN I think it will happen. I fill out my bracket every year and each time UT wins it, but If they keep playing that inside-outside game they might.

  8. There seems to have been an surge in crime lately in the Houston area. Theif, kidnapping, violent crime and murder seem to me to be in the news lately. What do yall think has be going in and how can the police, and political leaders combat this problem? Also, the violent crimes and murder are not just taking place in the inner city but more and more out to our suburbs. We know about the economy and that plays a role in it but I think there is more to it than that, what do you think?

  9. Was just reminded of this thread...

"He was trespassing and didn't want to get in trouble," the caller replied. As it happens, the caller's friend is an urban explorer who gets thrills rummaging through and photographing the ruins of Detroit.

Such a sad story, I have all ways wanted to go to Detroit because it plays such a big part in American history, but they need some serious help. I love all old architecture and the pictures of Detroit are great in showing how productive the city once was and how much decline it is now in. Detroit once had more homeowners per-capity than any other city in America, and now 1 in 50 are homeless.

  10. The rail we do have was long over due, Its 2009 houston needs to move into the future. We cant just keep expanding the freeways. Houston area might have over 6 million in the next 3 years and defenitly over 6 mil in 5 years and the freeway system will never grow as fast as the population. Our Airports need to be conneted to the rail, and cause Houston has no zoning, we have all the little business centers and parks that should be connected. We should have had rail to and from the Galveston area already. I still dont understand why Uptown was not apart of the original line. Downtown, the Med Center, Reliant park area and METRO just left out Uptown/Galleria. I dont think Houston has been aggressive enough to expand its rail system. I think people are reluctant to expand it because theres a lack in confidence that Metro could do it right, but thats just my opinion.

  11. Texas proved their worth in games when there down and that is what a number one team does. This notion that Texas should have rolled a top 10 team is stupid. OSU played for the title for the past two years and played for a BCS game this year. I think the only team to play in more stright BCS games than OSU is USC. If OSU did not think they could win they should have turned down the invitation to play. The Buckeyes showed up to win and Texas did as well and proved why they should be playing in the BCS title game over The Sonners (who lost to UT by 10). Every team does have a bad match up, and for OU it was Texas.

  12. Really? That was his lowest passer rating of the season, and lower than every single game that this year's Heisman winner had to boot. But, I suppose compared to that rushing attack, McCoy did look good.

Lucky for the horns, they got to play OSU, instead of having to play USC, Utah, Florida or OU. Now, Mack can vote the horns No.1

He lead his team to victory in a BCS game with less than 2 minutes left and 80 yards to go. Did you see his rushing TD(100th TD) it was Vince like with the spin move and touch down. I will play Utah anyday who beat an overrated Bama Team! OU already had a taste and they dont want no more!!!!!!! We will do USC like Vince did in 2005! Florida's Quterback is 4th best at most if you want to look at the statistics. Its Fact even though voters dont want to believe it. GO HORNS :D

  13. That is an easy non-conference but I think it is because there no more "helmet teams" in there Big 12 play. But I kinda want them to play BCS schools but dont really care cause winning their big 12 games should be good enough.

Colt McCoy played like a Heisman last night! That was a great game.

Cant believe I am going for the Sooners.

  14. It should be a Big 12 showdown for title game. The SEC was highly overated, the BCS computers know it, but human polls still dont. Florida has beat nobody except overated SEC teams that proved to be overated like LSU and more. The only team that is still in the top 25 they played was Georgia who has wins over no ranked teams as of now. And the Bulldogs just lost to an ACC team that wont be playing for the ACC title game! Florida is a very good team and is why I think they will beat Bama. But the title game is not for teams who lost early it is what they did all season long. I dont think Florida has the body of work Texas has, and have a much worse lost at home. The voters might put them in the tilte game but the computers might slide Texas up to that number two spot if Bama lose. If you want to look at Texas and Florida side by side how could you put them over Texas? They both will have wins over number one ranked teams but only Texas will have another win with a team still in the top ten of the BCS rankings, and more wins over all with teams in the top 25 still. Anyways who would not want to see to rivals go at it for the Title game? That would be fun to watch(only if UT wins though)!
