  1. Other than the expensive Midtown Randall's and the niche Phoenicia, Studemont Kroger is my closest grocery store. I'll go if I'm nearby, but otherwise I like the HEB Montrose.
  2. That Kroger is awful and I think the product lineup was selected by some number cruncher in Cincinnati. Seems like they only considered demographics for immediate area rather than things like, for example, that the Kroger on 20th Street is dry. The Studemont Kroger should have good beer selection, but doesn't.
  3. Prop B was passed to make better use of the bayous, and those plans are underway.
  4. That's the old press release from February. New article, but not new information.

  6. You really seem to hate real estate agents, Richard. What is mysterious about Rose Team Realty? I'm sure you could find plenty of information just off of that. There was nothing whatsoever passive aggressive about that statement. Ahhh, but you said you considered becoming a real estate agent. So you considered becoming a person who just wants to get a deal done and doesn't care about his client? Why would you consider becoming something so contemptible? Or perhaps some agents actually care about their clients and your generalizations are a little too hasty and absolutist.
  7. The rent is not high downtown, and it is not dumpy. We're not replacing restaurants with bars, we're replacing nothing with bars and restaurants. Not seeing the comparison?
  8. Yes, I do feel better that an ordinance was passed that already existed in most other major Texas cities. Passing closer than 3 feet is dangerous, like an unsafe lane change or speeding.
  9. The ordinance provides no new protection for a cyclist engaged in breaking a law.
  10. Very true. While there are still a few jerks and a few drunks in the city, I don't feel nearly the hostility I feel when I try to ride in, say, the Cypress area.
  11. I live on Main Street and feel I should be able to ride my bike on the street I live on. It's kinda useless for cars anyway. No left turns, and Main Street Square prevents passing through.
  12. With probable cause to believe you committed a crime, they can detain you. Matching a description may be enough for probable cause. What he described seemed to be matching a race, not matching a particular description, but it is moot as MarkSMU said the cop had other legitimate reasons to stop him (broken taillight or whatever).
  13. Yes, especially since right now you can kill someone and they can't find a charge to put on you. http://www.khou.com/news/local/Police-identify-woman-killed-in-auto-pedestrian-accident-194530351.html
  14. Come watch me ride on Main Street and you'll see some people who have no choice. Cars should be banned on Main Street downtown.
  15. We have a name for the tequila bar now, and the Trigger Happy bar is a brand new announcement, so yet another bar in the area. Wow.
  16. I don't think anything is implied in that data about which direction people are moving. All the data says is that a lot of people are moving to Houston from other places.
  17. Sounds like you were detained without probable cause, which is illegal. If someone matches an actual description of a suspected criminal, fine, detain them and determine if they're the person, but there's no need to racial profile just on a general basis.
  18. Yes, really. If there is not space to pass safely (determined by ordinance as 3 feet), follow behind. If you don't like traveling on that road, turn off at the first opportunity and take another.
  19. It's not tough. Just change lanes, or if not possible, follow behind.
  20. No worries, the ordinance provides no protection for a cyclist breaking a law.
  21. This takes effect today. http://www.click2houston.com/news/houston-city-council-approves-safepassing-ordinance/-/1735978/20063784/-/5y40s0/-/index.html
  22. So he wastes his precious half hour at places like Cavender's Boot City, because we all must be cowboys, or something. Also, Tookie's is less than great, so apparently he can waste precious minutes. As to Guy Fieri, he went to Red Lion. Lame.
