  1. Maybe he just likes the place. Not many places selling fresh pasta in Houston. This place, Damico's, and Hubbell & Hudson up in The Woodlands are the ones I know of.
  2. Unless of course, you consider a sidewalk a right of way. I do. The Planning Commission sent me an e-mail with details of what they'll propose. I'll post it when I have access later.
  3. Does it really matter which faceless corporation is running the Starbucks operation? They're all Starbucks.
  4. The PDF now shows Chipotle proposed instead of Torchy's. I hate both.
  5. Since I'm a libertarian, I'll assume that wasn't directed at me. I don't see how hating Walmart is relevant to political leanings, though. Even people who believe in an unrestricted free market don't have to like all the players in that market.
  6. I don't like all the hipster hate, frankly. I think a lot of supposed hipster culture makes a lot of sense. Don't like skinny jeans? Skinny jeans are great for not getting your pants leg caught in a spoke when you're riding a bike.
  7. He's still kinda new. He used to be in the space across from Feast on Westheimer, and was only open limited hours. He moved over to W Alabama a little while ago. Haven't been since he moved, but I do like his pasta.
  8. OTC Patio Bar is a bar in Upper Kirby. They just resolved a lawsuit against them and a couple other bars by neighbors complaining they were too loud and rowdy.
  9. I don't care if he goes on serving his district. That will happen regardless. Meanwhile, I would like to see our local officials proceed with building the rail. Being Congressman for a district doesn't give a person the right to build a moat around the district that no rail can cross. Those decisions are made by local officials, and funded by local money and state and federal allocations. He is one member of a Congress of 535.
  10. He is not God and he doesn't own his district. Over a decade of not building certainly hasn't changed his behavior at all. He's vehemently anti-rail regardless of whether construction starts or not, but it's not just his decision to make. Federal funding was issued despite his opposition and can be issued again.
  11. If you think there's a way to get Culberson to support rail, I am all ears. He and Delay were the anti-rail tag team for years. It's purely ideological for Culberson.
  12. Got a great bartender one time I went to Clutch City and a not very good one the other time.
  13. Excellent piece from Houstorian. http://houstorian.org/why-save-the-astrodome/
  14. Right, but just because the city's bikeway program claims a certain road is a bike route doesn't make it a bike path. It's just a recommendation, not actually an accommodation.
  15. Yeah we have some good bikeways and the city is committed fairly well to investing in bike infrastructure, but to say we have "300 miles" of interconnected bike paths is really disingenuous.
  16. Rent: 2011: 8400 2012: 9200 2013: 10000 According to some guy on Twitter. Weingarten thinks some bar will be willing to pay $10K for a windowless space without 4 decades of clientele? Fat chance.
  17. They're getting squeezed by The Devil, who also goes by the name Weingarten Realty.
  18. http://www.chron.com/entertainment/restaurants/article/Marfreless-bar-announces-it-will-be-closing-4371293.php
  19. Gonzo 247 of Aerosol Warfare (gallery for street artists to display/sell their work) is doing this. Here's a progress pic: https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=346379928805065&set=a.105589726217421.10939.105557986220595&type=1&theater
  20. Well then check my posts, because I was totally opposed to both Walmart and the 380.
  21. Oh silly me, it's Broadstone. Wish there were some comprehensive list of active projects in the city so I stop asking dumb questions.
  22. What's up at the 3900 block of Main, 1 block south of Alabama? Construction underway.
  23. Those all need to be remedied. Unfortunately they're not up for a variance right now, so I doubt anything can be done. Doesn't mean we should keep making the same mistake. Pedestrian access is very important. I'm honestly surprised that sidewalks don't figure in to your historic utopian vision for The Heights.
