  1. If that map is true, then people living in the SW quadrant is doomed, unless there is an extension to Holleman. Going out and going in, one of which will be difficult.
  2. I'm blacklisted (banned in the worst way) from another forum and I have no idea why. I swear they ignore my letters.
  3. I have. The "niceness" of Memorial area disappears. It looks decidedly lower-middle class with Spanish signage.
  4. HA! It will never happen. I predict that even if construction starts tomorrow, it will go on for over a decade running hopelessly overbudget. Think the "Big Dig".
  5. It's woefully late on my part, but the detour is open. Right turn in and right turn out of Jones-Butler south. Very dangerous. There needs to be a right hand turn lane from 2818 to Jones-Butler. And a stoplight at Cain and Wellborn.
  6. The interface is pretty bloated. It screams HAIF HD in large, huge letters across the screen. And I thought Houston got rid of its most obnoxious billboards.
  7. TheHAIF still needs more diversity, you're right. A disproportionate amount of people come from The Heights, Montrose, and other inner Houston neighborhoods, and maybe a Pasadena-ite, Katyian, or Baytownee lurks. I've never seen a The Woodlands HAIFer. Ever. Maybe because everyone here hates The Woodlands (which ties in with collective hate for McMansions).
  8. Me and who else? What category do YOU belong to?
  9. The intersection at N. Dowling and 2818 is now closed. The nightmare has begun.
  10. I saw it. Nothing too groundbreaking, but a decent WWII-era film nonetheless. It was more about the war than A&M and some scenes were NOT filmed in College Station. -The "horsedrawn artillery" scene. There are no large hills like that in College Station. -The Japanese house scene. There are no basements like that in College Station. -The railroad scene. The road paralleling the railroad isn't Wellborn. The same dirt road and billboards seem to pass by. Besides, it was coming from Dallas, or at least, that's what it was supposed to do.
  11. http://edition.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/TV/06/...bit.gale.storm/ Apparently she lived in Houston a long time ago.
  12. Editor put "yankee" as a definition elsewhere. To foreigners, a yankee is an American. To Americans, a yankee is someone living in the North. To the North, a yankee is someone living in the East Coast area. To the East Coast area, a yankee is someone living in New England. To New England, a yankee is someone living in Vermont. To Vermonters, a yankee is someone who doesn't have plumbing. ...or something along those lines.
  13. Can I ask why you bumped a four-year-old topic?
  14. Hmm...here a few reasons: 1) It's very diverse and "hip"...I guess it's Houston's Greenwich Village 2) No McMansions 3) The abandoned MKT right of way makes its way through the Heights. (Un)fortunately, no plan exists for METRO to turn it to light rail. 4) It's close to I-610 (but is that ALWAYS a good thing?) 5) The trees have lots of time to mature and thus are VERY big. Of course, I don't live in the Heights. Haven't been there. But I heard it looks nice from the exterior. This board doesn't seem to have pictures of the place...
  15. I changed it back to Cali, as it appeared to be still in Houston.
  16. I did a few of mine. Is there a way to get the HAIF placemarks as a Google Earth plugin?
  17. The detour is road is almost complete. The east transition (near Welsh) will be concrete for a bit, medians for the railroad guards were done today, and there looks to be a yield lane for the concrete Wellborn straightaway to the westbound FM 2818.
  18. Firefox on my Mac doesn't seem to like it either.
  19. I saw a billboard that read 7-4-09 with the Gallery Furniture logo. So that's what it was...
  20. Lockmat: I can't see the link either. I'm using Safari 3.0.
  21. That low-rise near Rice Village?? Dang...it looks kind of like a more dated version of the Rec Center in A&M University.
