  1. Dillard's didn't absorb them like Macy's absorbed Foley's...Leonard's went OOB then Dillard's bought the empty locations.
  2. That wasn't as bad as when the new principal told us this one.
  3. Well, I could ask to see the Texas Penal Code, and have a talk with him myself. I don't know where the case happened, but it wasn't Texas. I'll see on Monday, I might show these to him, try to get a response. OK? I'll settle this sooner or later.
  4. "Houston: The Virtual Experience Presented by HAIF" Seriously, the HAIF is like having Houston in your home, although the minerals are a lot stunning when you look at them in person. Does anyone remember the early 2004 chocolate exhibit? That looked awesome, though I didn't go in.
  5. Well, that's an armed person. Suppose they're unarmed. Well, here's my notes, in case you were wondering: Self Defense Elements
  6. Apparently, if they're on your property though (outside) you can't shoot either because that would be "escalating the force" and thus illegal. I took notes, and I'll repost them here to just make sure that I'm saying things right. I also wish the officer would be on HAIF, because he's lived in College Station for many years. He remembers when they built the bypass!
  7. Oh, man, I was hoping it was the bear that walked on Galveston Beach!
  8. Really? I'm a "criminal law" class taught at school by a police officer, and you can only use deadly force if you're in imminent danger, or if they're trespassing to commit a felony (ie rape). But you can't shoot someone dead, even they are in your house without your permission!
  9. It's all those Californians who moved to Dallas. They took their earthquakes with them.
  10. So the Tinsley's in Huntsville is probably closer to Chicken Express and not the original Chicken n Rolls? That's a bit of a disappointment. I was hoping to try it if I ever found myself in Huntsville someday.
  11. Is it just me or is Pebble Creek (most of it anyway) is McMansions. They have all the characteristics of McMansions. What do you think? Agree? Have pictures?
  12. I thought McMansions were built as McMansions, not renovated into them!
  13. I hope that Rice wouldn't change their name...since Baylor Med is apparently broke, why not absorb them? The "clash of cultures" seems imminent. I say no.
  14. Obviously, the new development is in the place of the old Mervyn's: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...mp;t=h&z=18 Well, Mervyn's is now dead nationwide...
  15. Wasn't where Town and Country Mall used to be...before the mall, supposedly there was an open-air mall anchored by Joske's (which carried over to the mall) and Sakowitz. Then they razed it to build the mall. Am I correct or do I have my facts all wrong?
  16. You don't. The reference to SH-21 refers to in Brazos County. Sorry about the confusion.
  17. Appletree closed all the Houston stores years ago, then cut a local one in about 2004 or 2005 that sat vacant a few years before the plaza was redeveloped. Apparently, there's an AppleTree on SH-21 that is STILL GOING!
  18. I'm not going to blame the furniture, but the aspect of rooms does seem like it would be the way things roll. Remodel!
  19. From KBTX... Locally Owned Grocery Store Changes Hands Save Email Print Posted: 5:01 PM Oct 16, 2008 Its new ownership and a new name for a local business, but the new owner says all of the employees will keep their jobs. The Appletree Market in Bryan, at 29th Street and Briarcrest Drive changed hands earlier this month. Next year, it will change names. New owner Jim Lewis says the store will become "Village Foods", and will carry more natural and organic food options. The Appletree on highway 21, will not change ownership. Lewis has owned the Briarcrest Drive building the Appletree operated out of for more than a decade. He said taking over the business was beneficial to both parties.
  20. I'd implode that nearby really ugly Holiday Inn Select. Oh, and a condo INSIDE the Galleria! I'd make sure the Houston Metro runs there, too.
  21. I don't remember when it was first spotted by me. It wasn't last spring, so it must have been summer 2007 or something. What's the progress on it now? Has it been built yet? (again, really sorry for being out of touch with Houston)
  22. There was some elementary school between West University Place and The Galleria area...there was a fence surrounding it, there were even signs of how it was Above Average in TAKS etc., but there was green space, possibly to become commercial. Does anyone know what I'm talking about, since I don't live in Houston and thus not as inept at describing things? http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&...mp;t=h&z=14
  23. It seems like Night-Time Bingo is more popular. I guess Daytime Bingo features seniors, kids, and simple prizes, while the night-time bingo features the high-stakes, mafia-run, pay-up-or-we-break-your-legs type bingo parlor. Or not.
  24. All right! I'm not insane after all! I did wish getting the McDonald's sign and cleaning it up, then sadly realizing that I probably couldn't mount it on my bedroom wall because it's too big...and it might violate a few sign ordinances/trademark laws if I built a post for it in my front yard, too.
