  1. This 3-building campus is called Health Sciences Park. https://www.bcm.edu/about-us/leadership/office-of-the-president/road-to-a-learning-health-system Health Sciences Park. This 440,000 square foot project will integrate medical education and research in a collaborative environment right next to patient care on the McNair Campus, allowing trainees to enhance their learning in the classroom by leveraging their experience in the lab and the clinic. Education space that facilitates conversation and small-group discussion and research space focused on data science and population health will augment new curriculum launching in 2023. Research centers on this campus will be dedicated to data intensive programs that support translational research and provide a foundation for data-driven training program. The first phase of Health Sciences Park, including an 11-floor tower and parking, is planned to open in 2025. This will open space on the current campus. This month we are beginning the pre-construction work on the McNair Campus for the Health Sciences Park. This will result in relocating those parking in the surface lot adjacent to the Jamail Specialty Care Center to new parking locations. I recognize that this will be an inconvenience, but it is an important step in achieving our vision of creating the Health Sciences Park. Our parking team is working with faculty and staff to accommodate their parking needs. Initially, we are keeping part of the lot open to allow our patients adjacent parking. Going forward, we will provide valet parking to patients at the same rate as the self-parking rate. New campus rendering provided in the article. Construction update:
  2. Is this small Bellows office at 1018 St. Agnes sitting vacant? As always, this building and all the other immediate businesses in the area will eventually get swallowed up by MD Anderson/TMC.
  3. In the thread, Dean ‘Candy Man’ Corll Murders, this was posted: I worked at HL&P off of S. Shaver in 1974 with Dean Coryll's room mate. Dean Coryll had also been an HL&P employee. The room mate said he had never noticed anything strange going on. He soon quit due to harassment. The boathouse that was in Houston was off Stella Link & Willowbend by the South Main Drive-in. This was blocks from my house. The spot on Bolivar was blocks from my family's beach house. & The boat storage was south of Main back off of Hiram Clark, just about 2 miles from where I grew up on Wuthering Hts. _____ What's this exactly? Any information here?
  4. This week's construction update: Demolishing the other side:

  6. Noticed this old, expired, Loopnet listing this week. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/5206-5270-Buffalo-Speedway-Houston-TX/11995005/ Interesting that the Walgreens in the same center is not apart of the development. Unless if I'm misreading things.

  11. wow! I never knew about this apartment complex that's in between South Main and Buffalo Speedway. I see it's a garden-style complex, which means it's probably 40 to 60 years old. I wonder if it will be demolished soon to make way for a mid-rise multifamily? Does anyone have any reviews of this place? Any memories to share? I wonder who the developer and architect was? I'd hope one of the mainstream Houston developers such as Finger, Farb, or Fein. Looks like the complex was recently sold? I see two names for the apartments: 3000 @ Med Center and Mainstream Apartments.

  14. I was looking for historical Bellaire items on Ebay this morning and noticed a book called Life And Times Around Bellaire, Texas 1909–2013. Within the book, there are photos from J. Michael McCorkle. One photo and caption reads: 1957 Bellaire residents could travel using the San Antonio Limited, seen coming down South Main Street to Houston in this photograph. I thought all of the trains ended in the 1910s and 1920s. Which particular train line was this? Or, was the author/photographer incorrect? Thanks for the information!
  15. I never paid attention to the name of this place a long Bellaire in Southside Place. Does HAIF know of an architect for their campus consisting of a church and school? I wonder how many acres the site sits on? I'd imagine that's a high dollar parcel! Did anyone attend the St. Mark's Episcopal School or Church?
  16. A demolition permit was pulled yesterday. The property was sold in 2021 to Whitney Management.
  17. Anyone know the architect for this smaller, neighborhood church? I've driven past the church countless of times but never thought about seeing whole designed and built the church. Probably built in the 1970s or 1980s? Located in Westbury at 5020 West Bellfort St. Website: http://www.stjohnspresby.org/
