  2. While browsing old issues I noticed this add for Kauffman's Cleaners & Taylors dated January 8, 1954. I wonder if there are any pictures of the building or sign around?
  3. I love all these old barber shops around town. I was looking an old issues of Rice's The Trasher magazine and I came across Hans House of Beauty No. 2 at 6422 Main St. Located in the infamous Hermann Professional Building. The bottom floor used to have rentable space? I've noticed a few different stores that were here over the years. February 24, 1961. January 8, 1954. March 21, 1958.
  4. I was looking at an old The Rice Trasher magazine dated September 7, 1944 and came across this business that made personalized glassware gifts. Esther McKenzie Glassware. Any pictures of the glassware? Pictures of the building? Looks like this is across from The Ion, so it would be an empty lot today.
  5. I was looking at old The Rice Thresher issues and I saw a whole bunch of adds for this building. Here's the description: Autry House is located across Main Street from Rice University and is now part of Palmer Episcopal Church. The building was originally a donation from the family of James Lockhart Autry II and served as an important social space for students before the Rice Memorial Center was built. https://scholarship.rice.edu/handle/1911/68351 Photo from 1921: Adds from various Thrasher magazines with dates: The Last Drop Coffeehouse - January 22, 1970. 6. While browsing old Houston maps I noticed the Contemporary Arts Museum was at the corner of Fannin St. & N. Braeswood Blvd. The map was dated in 1950. Earlier this week I was browsing old Rice's The Thresher magazines. In an issue dated September 23, 1965 I found an add for the The Contemporary Arts Museum which was located At 6945 Fannin Street. Does anyone have any images of the old building? What replaced this structure? Is this where the TECO (then Houston Natural Gas) plant is located? TECO's history states that in 1967 the Houston Natural Gas Central Plant was built. https://tecothermalenergy.com/about/history/
  7. A Capital Retail Properties sign has been posted. Please tell me they are planning a large scale retail-focused mixed-use development. I looked at their other projects and they focus on large retail/mixed-use developments. Lower Heights District, The Shoppes At Uptown Crossing, Sawyer Heights Village, The Woodlands Town Center, and the Americana Downtown Redevelopment.
  8. A Urban Meridian Group sign has appeared. I wonder what's going on here?
  9. Demolition of Landmark Grocery Store Clears Way for Urban Village https://realtynewsreport.com/demolition-of-landmark-grocery-store-clears-way-for-urban-village/ BELLAIRE, Texas – (By Michelle Leigh Smith for Realty News Report) – Kimco has signed a lease with a group of medical professionals from Houston Methodist who plan to raze the 106,000 SF Randalls, according to city officials. The venerable connection with Bellaire’s go-go days of 1956 sits on 3.1 acres. The grocery store, adored for its convenience and high-quality wines and foods, has stood at 5130 Bellaire Boulevard at S. Rice Avenue for more than 66 years. Monique Alejos, Development Review Coordinator, Development Services, City of Bellaire says the medical group is part of Houston Methodist and plans are congealing for a surgery center – one that will not involve expensive Texas Medical Center parking fees and dense TMC traffic. According to documents obtained through an Open Records Request, the group will request permission to build the new structure four stories high. Walter P. Moore and Anthony Wright at PageThink have been engaged to work with the City of Bellaire on a new site plan and permitting. Engineer Avinash Kalagarla is looking at existing utilities to see if they have the capacity to handle a new 106,000 SF medical office building The City of Bellaire’s Urban Village district code provides for a mix of uses and style of development intended to reinforce the “small town downtown feel desired by Bellaire residents, including opportunities for shopping, services, dining and entertainment.
  10. I went deep down Kirby today and noticed this medical/biotech business park by Stream Realty. I believe Stream actually has another division focused on Industrial properties?
  11. I pass by this small business park a lot but never stop by. I stopped by today, and the PMRG For Lease Sign has been there for a decade. Shouldn't Madison Marquette replace the sign? Out of all the light-industrial/lab space around Kirby and West Bellfort, this one is doing badly. I see lots of vacancy. Old Loopnet listing: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/16296274/2525-West-Bellfort-Houston-TX/
  12. Today I stopped by an older Life Science office strip park on West Bellfort. I always pass by here but never stop. Transwestern website: https://transwestern.com/property/2575-w-bellfort-st Loopnet: https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/2575-W-Bellfort-St-Houston-TX/4018395/

  16. Under contract, again, per Loopnet. https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/9419-S-Buffalo-Speedway-Houston-TX/25893297/
  17. Just noticed this on TDLR. The Project consists of a 230 Unit, multi-family community with one (1) 2-Level Parking Garage totaling 287 parking spaces. The building construction includes five (5) stories of wood framed apartments.
  18. Building signage facing OST went up. Next lettering will be John O'Quinn? The construction in the rear states it's apart of a garage.
