He attended private schools and the John H. Bishop Academy for Young Men in Seguin. In 1901 he received his M.D. from the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston. Greenwood was on the staff of the San Antonio State Hospital for Mental Diseases from 1902 to 1906, when he went into private practice in Seguin. In 1908 he returned to UTMB as instructor in pediatrics, clinical medicine, and physical diagnosis. He left Galveston in 1912 to establish the Greenwood Sanitarium for treatment of neuropsychiatric diseases in Houston.   4. The area of the proposed Europa At Houstonian Lakes development is now being split up into tracts. Something may be finally happening with the Buffalo Speedway/Holmes Road saga. JLL acted on behalf of the developer in June 2021 to acquire the plot. Soon after, Oden Hughes Taylor commenced work on the project, which is slated for completion early next year. The community is set to encompass a mix of one-, two- and three-bedroom units, averaging 964 square feet. Plans call for unit interiors to include full-size washers and dryers, and high-end finishes. The property will also feature a pool, outdoor dining and entertainment areas, and fitness center. Located 20130 Schiel Road, The Reserve at Cypress will be some 32 miles northwest of downtown Houston, roughly 6 miles of Cypress Towne Center, and 3 miles northeast of Fairfield Town Center.   6. Noticed this on my run. I didn't think this parcel was under contract? It's the land located within the Buffalo Speedway Connector loop.
  7. Colliers is listing this slender parcel of land. I know this is a big industrial area surrounded by concrete mix plants, etc. There are hundreds of acres for sale a long Buffalo Speedway, Holmes Road, and W. Airport. I wonder if Kirby drive will ever extend through the area? Edit: The address is 375 Holmes Road.

  11. I recently learned about this place. Very cool history! It was founded by James Smither Abercrombie and his daughter Josephine Abercrombie. https://www.pinoak.org/about-pin-oak/our-history/ In 1948, Pin Oak began a long-term commitment to raise funds to construct, and later support, Texas Children’s Hospital, which opened in Houston in 1954. During the next three decades, “Mr. Jim” Abercrombie, Leopold Meyer, the Junior League and a group of dedicated Houstonians established Pin Oak as one of the preeminent horse shows in the nation, attracting as many as 60,000 visitors, and enabling the Association to contribute millions to worthy causes.   12. I was looking at the Houston Public Library Digital Archives this week. I've never seen some of those old photographs before! I found this interesting picture of a city bus going through the Holmes at Scott intersection. I know there was a big Shamrock craze back in the day. Anyone ever heard of this place?
