  1. Heads up, The intersection at Post Oak & San Felipe will be closed Friday, March 13th, 2009 thru ? The traffic is now starting to get to me. They're closing lanes on San Felipe to use the land/lanes for their big vehicles.
  2. Awesome 1965 photo! Thanks. - Westbury Grad. 2003? ha (New construction wasn't started before I left.)
  3. Kolache Factory! The new Kolache Factory on S. Post Oak is booming! Traffic is now building up on S. Post Oak due to two (2) morning breakfast restaurants, Shipley Donuts and Kolache Factory. If I would have to pick one place to eat, it would definitely be the new Kolache Factory. 'Commitment to Expansion Nets Newest Location. New Houston Location Features Bakery- Caf
  4. They modifed the street lanes within the last 24 hours. I don't like it, morning traffic will become worse. Hopefully they do their work within a couple weeks.
  5. What's the construction on San Felipe @ S Post Oak Lane? They have cleared a new driveway on the left. (Accross the street from Four Leaf Towers.) If both towers are on hold, why is there construction going on? It's in between the old Eatzi's and the Sage Plaza (Randalls shopping center)
  6. Sweet! Yeah, my friend said when he went home at 4:10 PM, I-10 was great. No traffic at all. Best freeway in Houston now. I heard the 610 to I10 merger is now 2 lanes.
  7. I just heard I-10 East off 610 just opened up! So now both sides of I-10 are open? (by 610. Wirt, Chimney Rock, Voss, Bingle, Campbell, Blalock, Genser and so on) I could drive it, during lunch hour. This will be SO awesome!
  8. Nice to have both cable & internet. My internet was on immediately. Dish Network's satellite dish got misaligned and the dish needs to be pointed again. My RPTV is HD-Ready and not HD-Intergrated so I cannot watch DTV locals, I can't even access local channels via OTA. I need a 1080p DLP I feel bad for everybody still without power. As of 09/28/08 - 12:00 PM. Good luck everybody!
  9. Agreed. Thanks HAIF for all the great information and resources during this time. Hurricane Ike made history for me. (Worst hurricane I have ever been through. Longest power-outage in my life.)
  10. Hello. I finally got power yesterday! My Dishnetwork's satellite needs to be re-pointed and aligned. Anybody know of somebody local that could come out and point it for me? I stay on the Southwest of Houston. Pay in cash. Thank you!
  11. Willow Meadows (77035) is really starting to pickup. Everybody has electricity! (Except my street) 77035 as of 09/27/08 7:00 AM is 11% without power. Last night on S. Post Oak I saw 20 power trucks, guided by Ford F150s or what not. This morning, on the way to work I noticed 20+ power trucks on 610 South... It's coming!
  12. Same thing happend to a family friend His gas stove-top turned on because of the surge and caught the whole house on fire. I unplugged all appliances, but A/C is still plugged in... I don't see what the A/C could do to catch fire. scary stuff! Going home soon, to no power. So bye HAIF
  13. Somebody on the 'other' side of S. Post Oak & Willowbend got power today around 3:00 PM. Other Side- by W. Bellfort and Chevron.
  14. This is very true. I do sound like a jerk. High stress for me this week (Architecture and no power.)
  15. Figures, same thing I thought of. (I edited my above post... it was a rant) I think most of SW Houston (S. Post Oak, W. Bellfort, Chimney Rock, Hillcroft, Willowbend, Bissonnet, Bellaire and so on) will have power 'by' October the 20th. 77035 and 77096 won't have power till weeks to come... yay 77035 as of 09/25/08 5:00 AM CST- 24% without power. 77035 as of 09/26/08 5:00 AM CST- 17% without power. Making progress, I do have a feeling one of these days it will jump 30% up.
  16. 77035 & 77096 (Willowbend & Westbury) CenterPoint friend told me this: They tried to cut the electricity on last night. When they did it blew a bunch of transformers and started a big fire. They had fire trucks and stuff everywhere this morning. So now they have to replace the transformers. Edit: Might explain this then? 09/24/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST- 77096- 40% without power. 09/25/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST- 77096- 47% without power.
  17. This is what I meant by yesterdays rant. CenterPoint misses reconnection deadline 11:49 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 "HOUSTON – As of Wednesday night, CenterPoint had restored power to 78 percent of their customers. Only 500,000 remain without power, but some of them may not get their lights turned back on until November." http://www.khou.com/topstories/stories/kho...e.ac0eda4b.html Novemeber huh. Surely that's not 610 South, 59 South, I-10 West customers. That has to be out in the burbs or out by the sea land.
  18. My father's transformer popped last night. (77096) I heard when you hear a transformer pop (Post-Ike) That's a sign of power coming back to your lines/transformer. Unless, power tried to come in. Transformer couldn't handle it, so it got blown.
  19. I hate how it goes up. I wonder what causes that. I want the 5:00 AM update for 09/24! Edit: I got the update! brb, updating my post above.
  20. CenterPoint is now claiming 77035 is set for Sunday. 1) Monday 2) Thursday and now 3) Sunday Please prove me wrong. 77035 as of 09/23/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST. – 38% without power 77035 as of 09/24/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST. – 31% without power. 7% decrease in 24 hours. 77096 as of 09/23/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST. - 60% without power 77096 as of 09/24/2008 @ 5:00 AM CST. - 40% without power 20% decrease in 24 hours!
  21. This is true. I noticed yesterday, when driving down Willowgrove Drive. So close to our homes.. come on power! Kroger and Randalls are both open today. Exxon and Chevron are now open. Things are really going smoothly the past couple of days.
  22. Nice. Thanks for calling them! Flipper, Enjoy the weekend. Hopefully you and I will have power by Monday. (Along with everybody else on HAIF)
