  1. Check the Chronicle. I'm sure they covered the meeting. ROFL. J/K. Haven't seen or heard anything.
  2. Of course, the "straight slate" thing had nothing to do with straight party voting (and was hardly a thing for decades).
  3. The Business Journal report on the lease says their lease at 1001 Fannin is 202,000 square feet. I wonder if they are consolidating some of their other spaces (for example, they have some significant space in One City Centre.)
  4. I though they were previously limited to three 2-year terms and after the 2015 vote, are now limited to two 4-year terms
  5. So, how many gates does United have in Terminal A and how many flights a day do they operate out of those gates?
  6. Agenda item for tomorrow's Downtown Redevelopment Authority meeting: Post HTX Economic Development Agreement
  7. Isn't the Tornado Bus station several blocks south of these developments?
  8. A quick look at Google Maps aerial view confirms the post office property is pretty clearly immediately the east of the purple shaded area. https://goo.gl/maps/dsTQWAQMtQw
  9. I think the post office is to the way of the area identified as Cavalcade Heights.
  10. Correct. And that was pretty extensive.
  11. so . . . do you disagree that emergency preparedness is a primary responsibility of the County Judge?
  12. 3rd Quarter, 2018: Downtown population continues to grow fast. A net 314 units were absorbed in the CBD, while zero new units were delivered. (Assuming 1.4 people per occupied apartment, downtown added almost 150 people per month during the 3rd quarter.) The "Central Houston" market (downtown, Montrose/Museum/Midtown, Heights/Wash Ave., Highland Village/Upper Kirby/West U, and Med Center/Braes Bayou) delivered 786 new units during the quarter, with 975 units net absorption.
  13. Do you have a source for that information? It seems highly likely that if there was any such case to be made, American (and other airlines) would be aggressively making it. (Airport lease terms and federal regulations address these sorts of things.)
  14. Why is United to blame for Americans operational issues?
  15. Interesting item buried in the Downtown TIRZ minutes (anyone want to start a pool on how long it takes the Chron or HBJ to cover this?) The current owners are proposing to sell the State National Building to an entity named "Highrock Hospitality, LLC". Looks like we might we be seeing another hotel conversion. http://www.downtowntirz.com/downtownhouston/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/180911-Authority-Minutes-SIGNED.pdf
  16. New parking garage at Jackson and Ervay in downtown Dallas. In case you're wondering, the other three corners of the intersection, in clockwise order, are occupied by (i) surface parking with a parking garage next door; (ii) surface parking with another parking garage next door, and (iii) yet another parking garage.
  17. There was a presentation to a council committee last month. Apparently, the first step is, again, the demolition of old C North. The timing indication was that the old C North demolition might be underway next year this time. I believe some of the enabling projects are already underway? The other interesting item from the presentation was that Terminal A is "bursting at the seams", with multiple airlines wanting additional gates in the terminal. One airline wants 6 gates; United has asked for 4 gates; 2 other airlines want at least 2 gates.
  18. How about we rename the topic "Trains and BRT"
  19. There will be views of the bayou available to all in the new Memorial Park. Anyone interested in the plans for Memorial Park should read the Master Plan. https://issuu.com/memorialparkhouston/docs/mph_mpbook_final_small_webversion_a_c7f9e7eed3d03c
  20. They would love to, but I believe it's all private property, all pretty densely developed.
  21. Memorial Park's Master Plan includes hiking trails that run pretty close to the bayou along most of its length through the park.
  22. I'm not sure. It just seems there must be a way for the city to not pay property taxes on public park land.
