  1. Probably because GulfGate is just an HEB. West Alabama is a "Market," their cross between a regular HEB and a Central Market.
  2. How does the town of Mesquite justify giving a subsidy to a housing developer?

  4. Charlotte's annual rainfall is significantly less than Houston's. And it's not just annual rainfall that matters. How it arrives also matters. Do they get 8 inch downpours like we had Wednesday without any flooding?
  5. I'm curious what places you've lived that receive more rain than Houston
  6. The Hardy Toll Road extension will not run on Hardy Street north of the Elysian Viaduct. It will run on land to the east that has been/is being cleared by the relocation of the rail line.
  7. The attacks and questioning of this project seem odd, but I guess they are perfectly in line with the general negativity of this board. But, let's say the naysayers are right. So what? What's the worst result? Some seem to be implying there is something nefarious afoot. What is the supposed ulterior motive of these people/companies who have already spent millions of (their own) dollars pursuing this project?
  8. And I believe they have said the project relies on the real estate development at the stations.
  9. And I think the cost estimate is $12 Billion, not 15
  10. Bullet Train ridership is anticipated to ramp up to 5 million journeys by the mid 2020’s, and 10 million journeys by 2050. That’s 30% of the anticipated number of long-distance trips between North Texas and The Greater Houston Metro Area.
  11. I see now that the seawall does go out there... it's just not as tall. (edit button does not work)
  12. I didn't think the seawall extended that far east.
  13. When they say "in front of Seawall", I take it they mean "in front of Seawall Blvd", not "in front of the seawall"?
  14. From Eater Houston: "Local bartenders will go head-to-head in a Shark Tank-style competition to earn their spot in the rotating lineup at Indie. The plan is for contenders to pitch Bravery partners Anh Mai, Lian Pham, and Shepard Ross on their “vision” for the space. Once chosen, they’ll be responsible for building an identity at the food hall including: creating menus, executing a design, and bringing their own team of staff. No word yet on how long the selection process will take, or how often the lineup will rotate."

  16. Is this the slide show to which you are referring? https://www.houstonchronicle.com/business/article/H-E-B-opens-first-double-decker-store-in-Houston-13028941.php
  17. According to the good folks at DallasMetropolis.com, it is. http://dfwu.dallasmetropolis.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=384&p=15036&hilit=city+lights#p15036
  18. Thanks. From reading those minutes, it appears that what has been funded is a consultant study to "identify and evaluate potential Houston area sites for an urban regional transit center." I don't see anything about funding for developing such regional transit center or paying for the relocation of Greyhound. Sorry, but it looks like any relocation is still well short of "imminent."
  19. With respect, "plans in the making" does not equal imminent. Plans have been in the making to move the Greyhound station for, what, 20 years?
