  1. Where do they smash six lanes down into three?
  2. The inbound Spur lanes and the HOV lane will begin below ground level, but will rise to ground level and slightly above in order to pass over the outbound 69/59 lanes and then connect to the existing Spur. It appears that the Montrose Bridge will have to be rebuilt to accommodate more lanes of traffic beneath it, but I don't think there will be any need to jack it up; at that point, all of the lanes are completely below grade.
  3. property taxes on Exxon Mobil's campus are about $40 million per year. Source: http://www.bizjournals.com/houston/news/2016/09/02/exxxon-mobil-calls-off-lawsuit-over-harris-countys.html
  4. standard entrance and exit ramps, traffic signals, left turns... I think the idea of removing the cloverleaf interchange has been pretty much abandoned.
  5. I found a quote from the developer from quite early in the process, where he said the tower (which was of uncertain height) would be on top of a 9 level parking garage. So it seems that rendering with the shorter parking garage has been inoperative for a very long time.
  6. Interesting about the tunnel connection. The Star's website says "Future residential access to the downtown tunnel system"... Could they maybe be planning to hook in through BG Group Place or maybe directly to 609 Main? Edit: I just found in another thread that the Texaco building developer said early on that they would be connected to BG Group Place and to another high rise being developed to the north (obviously 609 Main).
  7. They knocked it out of the park with the new C North. It is beautiful. Great news: They are currently doing remodeling in Terminal E to make room for more of those great restaurants and retail shops. PS I'm glad one of the city's "news" providers finally got wind of the new Terminal C North.
  8. Just a note of caution... as we've seen many times, a retailer's name appearing on a developer's site plan does not necessarily mean much. Note that the Lovett flyer says they have "retail, office and entertainment spaces available" but the site plan does not appear to show any available retail (or entertainment) space. It only shows the space labeled Sprouts and CVS. Also, the rendering (which is labeled "Option 2") does not seem to match up with the site plan.
  9. Before it gets said again, maybe someone should do some fact-checking. At Houston's density, it would not take all the land west of the Appalachians to fit the world's population. West of the Mississippi would be a lot closer, but it doesn't even fill all of that space (and that's excluding Alaska and Hawaii).
  10. Stream Energy relocates headquarters from central Dallas to Addison. https://www.dallasnews.com/business/real-estate/2017/05/22/stream-energy-sets-shop-new-addison-hq
  11. ^. And I think there are/were direct quotes from a Macy's spokesman saying they would like to find a space downtown to replace the old store.
  12. But rushing to judgment based on as little information as possible is what HAIFers do. ;-)
  13. Correct. The new underground parking (underneath the under-construction new Glassell building) will be opened for parking on Monday, May 22. The museum has owned the parking lot on which the new Kinder building will be constructed since 2007 and had an arrangement with the church to allow the church to use that parking on Sunday mornings. I believe they will now allow the church to use the new underground garage on Sunday mornings.
  14. And according to the facts you posted, those businesses were reimbursed by Metro for every penny of those losses. Pay attention. What was your point again?
  15. No. And I've said nothing from which such notions could have been inferred.
  16. And he swings and misses again. I'm pretty sure you know that no one has suggested that no business suffered any adverse consequences due to the construction of the light rail infrastructure. Of course some did. And as you've so kindly (and cluelessly) shown us, Metro provided assistance to ameliorate those consequences. Kinda' steps on your attempted point, doesn't it? What was your point again?
  17. Younan owns one or more of the properties on this block, including the 1010 Lamar building. However, I'm not sure we need for them to sell before the city's proposed mixed-use project can proceed; the city has (or at least had) an understanding with Younan to participate in the project by leasing part of its building and being provided with some parking for its office tenants.
  18. Benjamin Berg, the restaurateur behind Washington Avenue steakhouse B&B Butchers & Restaurant, is opening another restaurant inside The Star.
  19. Dallas Morning News is reporting that Warby Parker is coming to Heights Mercantile.
  20. The Variance hearing was scheduled for last week. Anyone know the result?
