But when there is no subdivision? It's one solid block; there doesn't appear to be any subdivision going on.- 987 replies

Interesting. The name is certainly intriguing. Serious question: What is the point of a plat filing such as this?- 987 replies

More likely something around 15 stories. For example, the Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites under construction downtown is 14 stories and 186 feet.

This change is a separate project that (I believe) is currently in progress. There will still be exits to Pease and St. Joseph, but they will not be via the long ramps. The long ramps will now carry traffic from Northbound I-45 to Southbound I-69/US59.

Many of the Google maps photos of downtown were taken in 2015 and they are very crisp.

I don't think so. If they planned to demolish those houses, one would think they would have done so at the same time as the Glassell demolition.

On the positive side, there are currently elevated structures in that stretch, in addition to the trenched freeway. With the new plan, we'll still have elevated structures (of very similar size to the existing structures) and lose the trenched and surface freeway.

Midtown Restaurant And Bar Scene - More Coming

Could there be a more quintessentially HAIF restaurant review? ;-) -
That's crazy. Sounds like you handled it well, uscats. (And it sounds like Oliver McMillan responded appropriately too)

Your concerns for the Hardy Rail Yards project and I-10 corridor ring hollow. I-10 is currently elevated for about half the stretch and, to use your words," blighted by a car canyon" for the other half. Further, the plans appear to show at least as many crossing points as there are currently, so your concern about the area being even more shut off appears to be misplaced. Why do you prefer an elevated freeway in midtown and behind the GRB, but the idea of an elevated freeway on the north side of downtown causes you to weep?

Hold your horses. The $6 Billion cost estimate is for the entire I-45 project from Beltway 8 North through downtown. No one is proposing to spend $6 Billion just to tear out the Pierce and reroute the traffic around the North and East of Downtown.

They had a ceremonial ground breaking. Construction never commenced. They never had a contractor under contract until now. -
Yeah, there's a bayou in Louisiana named "Blue Bayou". I don't have any idea how it got its name.

Hold on. Let's not get carried away with disinformation about downtown signage AGAIN. There are restrictions on signage downtown that do not apply elsewhere (although most of those restrictions apply to certain other designated areas of town) . There is not and never has been a ban on lighted signs downtown.
