  1. This was good to see. It had to do with cooperating with other agencies such as TXDoT and the city as those agencies move forward with projects in the area, so they can be sure such other projects are designed and built in a way that will accommodate Metro’s plans for the rail extension .
  2. Either she misspoke or you misunderstood. Metro does not have blanket authority to do what they please with city streets. When one watches Metro Board committee meetings where they get update from staff on various projects, one of the constants is negotiations with the City.
  3. Good candidate for the most nonsensical post ever, given that UH-D will in no way be wedged between interstate highways after the IH45 realignment. Oddly enough, the attached photos show how the campus is currently divided by the current I-10 alignment; the I-10/I-45 realignment will remove that giant obstacle from the middle of the UH-D campus.
  4. Any chance you’ve noticed you could not have been more wrong? Indeed, as I told you would happen, the Yankees sold advertising patches on their jerseys. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/yankees-add-advertising-patch-to-jersey-sleeves-worth-reported-25-million-a-year/amp/
  5. "all these years"???? IIRC, it opened barely more than 2 years ago, during a then on-going worldwide pandemic. Seems awfully premature to declare failure (but of course, that is the HAIF way).
  6. Here's a Chronicle article that gives an idea of the competing interests Metro has to consider. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/news/houston-texas/transportation/article/gulfton-brt-metro-houston-lanes-transit-18175799.php And, again, it's ultimately the city that decides how many lanes there will be for cars.
  7. Drivers are people too. ;-) Where did you see Metro's explanation for the change?
  8. You told us Metro was adding a car lane. I merely pointed out that is not the plan. Metro proposes keeping three lanes for cars (and all other vehicles- general purpose lanes) and adding a BRT lane. I expressed no opinion as to whether Hillcroft needs 3 general purpose lanes. But to that point, that is not a matter Metro gets to decide. That is a city of Houston matter. If you want fewer general purposes lanes on Hillcroft, you need to direct your thoughts to the City of Houston, not to Metro.
  9. Yes, what I told you is what the plan shows. —there are currently three general traffic lanes used by all cars, buses and trucks. The plan provides 3 general purpose lanes plus a new lane for BRT buses only. The new lane is for BRT buses only, not cars.
  10. They aren't adding a lane for cars; they are adding a lane for BRT buses. And from Gulfton to Bellaire they are removing a car lane (and adding very wide shared use sidewalk/bike lanes, as proposed for the rest of the Hillcroft BRT route). And the sidewalk/path with which they propose to replace the existing sidewalk and bike track is VERY wide and will easily accommodate bicycles and pedestrians. PLUS Hillcroft currently has bike track only from Westward/Highstar to Bellaire Blvd? 4/10 of one mile. Metro is proposing the very wide sidewalk/bake track from Gulfton to Bissonet 1 1/2 miles. Looks like greatly improved conditions for all involved. Bicylists give up 4/10 of a mile of exclusive bike track in exchange for 1 1/2 miles of nice wide shared path.
  11. ^ How about a 56' plan? 6' 4' 8' 10' 10' 8' 4' 6'
  12. Yeah, especially considering where University Dr. would cross under the railroad --- about 17 sets of tracks. Probably in the category of "not gonna happen".
  13. Genuinely curious, so I'll ask again... Why do new houses on the west end decrease the island's ability to mitigate flooding and why do they increase the risk to everyone else?
  14. They seem rather inactive. The only events shown on their “events” page were in 2021.
  15. I can no longer edit the previous post. Why was that change made? In any case, scroll to about 49:00, maybe even 50:00 of the State of the Airports presentation to get to the airport system's actual presentation.
  16. Video of last year's State of the Airports presentation.
  17. I finally found a video of last year's State of the Airports presentation.
  18. This kind of stuff drives me crazy. Is it too much to expect the Greater Houston Partnership people to get the name of the hotel correct? It is Hilton Americas or Hilton Americas-Houston, NOT "Hilton of America's" (which is not even grammatically correct). And that is in addition to the ridiculous error in the narrative that HIghrise Tower pointed out, to wit: the event will be held at the brand-new Helix Park campus (I'm presuming that's an error). Either way the GHP's posting is an embarrassment.
  19. New video from HAS showing the construction of two new levels of parking on Terminal C parking garage (which will also connect to the Terminal D/E Central Processor building). https://fly2houston.com/newsroom/articles/more-700-reasons-be-excited-about-new-international-terminal-bush-airport
  20. Can we change the thread name to reflect the downsizing of this building to 45 stories? I wonder if that was just a "for-show" groundbreaking or have they actually started construction? Looks kinda like the former.
  21. ^ Interesting. I believe the Cafe Sophie space was the round space. Carousel sounds like a great concept for the space.
  22. Did you mistake that canvas for a central chilling station? Editor probably would have. ;-) I doubt there have been five people who have ever mistaken the Beck Building for a central chilling station. This whole conversation is ridiculous.
  23. Correct, it is not uncommon, especially when there is a change of composition, but this change pretty clearly has nothing to do with the very minor change in our composition. They did not change the north Texas metroplex name as you stated. Dallas-Plano-Irving is the name of a metropolitan division, a subset of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. Neither has changed in some time. (The western side of the metroplex is the Fort Worth-Arlington-Grapevine metropolitan division.) FWIW, their combined area is named Dallas-Fort Worth.
