What is weird about that? Seems like a pretty perfect location.

Probably gives them more flexibility in leasing. Running plumbing and electrical is a lot easier before pouring the concrete than after.

Some Woodlands Chamber of Commerce types have hinted about some additional major corporations that are looking at relocating or will be announcing a relocation or some such; But the hints have been mixed in with misstatements about the number of Fortune 500 companies currently located in The Woodlands, so it's a little hard to take it too seriously. But The Woodlands is obviously attractive, so who knows?

Interesting. Good work, Okie. Perhaps 2160 Pressler is the same parcel as 2151 Holcombe? Edit: Actually, that does not seem right. That side of Pressler should have an odd-numbered address.

I think the new building is going to be at 2160 Pressler St. The site of the Hornberger Conference Center was one of the sites considered, but apparently was passed over.

Sunday Streets for Houston
Houston19514 replied to trymahjong's topic in Bicycles and Other Low-Impact Modes
^ Either the plans have changed or (at least equally possible) the Chron got it wrong. The next Sunday Streets is apparently going to be October 12 in the Heights. (19th Street from Heights Blvd. to Shepherd). Here is how the CultureMap described it: "a route through the Heights, from 19th Street to Shepherd," Well done, Elizabeth Rhodes. Anyone modestly familiar with the Heights (as a reporter/journalist should be), would know that 19th Street and Shepherd intersect. I guess the next Sunday Streets is going to be a VERY small occasion. ;-) And of course Swamplot (snark before facts) dutifully repeated the error. -
Better get yourself some snow boots.

Some condos don't require 100% agreement. Once a certain % agrees to sell, the rest are required to go along. I suspect that was the case here.

The Galleria Mall At 5085 Westheimer Rd.
Houston19514 replied to TreaderCRC's topic in Uptown and Galleria Area
I have no idea whether Simon wants Dillards "under the roof" (and all indications are, neither do you). But to say they don't want Dillards because they don't feel Dillards is high end enough is patently ridiculous. The Galleria has plenty of stores that are at or below the level of Dillards. Starting with Macy's and going down from there. A mall that has a Payless Shoesource is not going to thumb its nose at Dillards for being insufficiently high-end. Re: the hotels; Perhaps; although I think it's unlikely. But this is all a silly academic discussion anyway. The idea of building a skywalk to connect the new hotels to the Galleria is a horrible idea for myriad other reasons and I doubt that either Simon or the hotel developer would have much interest in spending the money to build it. -
Hilton Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites Hotels At 710 Crawford St.
Houston19514 replied to Houston19514's topic in Downtown
No. The color rendering is two hotels. Hampton Inn on the right. Homewood Suites on the left. At the time these were announced, a different developer announced a Hyatt Place on the other (western) half of the block. We have been told by trusted forum members that the Hyatt Place has been canceled and it has been removed from the Downtown Houston Development Map.- 486 replies

All that, Fortune, plus, at the risk of over-burdening the forum with facts, Simon does not own the Westin Hotels. -
As of today, my view of 2929 Weslayan from my office window is completely blocked by SkyHouse River Oaks.

I think the only thing remaining of Dr. Pepper in Waco is the Dr. Pepper Museum. Headquarters was long ago moved to Plano and I don't think they even bottle the stuff in Waco (they have Texas bottling works in Houston, Irving and San Antonio).

The Star (Former Texaco Building) At 1111 Rusk St.
Houston19514 replied to editor's topic in Downtown
The largest (and only) high-rise building currently under construction in Dallas' CBD topped out yesterday. 18 stories: -
Yes, it includes the under-bridge lighting. It was implemented in 2006 on the Sabine to Bagby Promenade section of the Buffalo Bayou. It has now been implemented on at least parts of the Shepherd to Sabine section.

Consolidating all of their administrative operations. The same benefit they have touted for building the campus in Spring and consolidating everyone from various sites around Houston, plus Virginia, Dallas, Ohio...

I've been wondering the same thing. Seems pretty ridiculous. I suppose there must be some reason... I hope?

Houston19514 replied to Houston19514's topic in Downtown
Parking on the streets is free every night after 6:00 and all day Sundays. I haven't seen this in person, but from the pictures, it looks like one would almost have to try to hit their head on it. I don't see what all the fuss is about. -
The word is everyone is out and there are no injuries (of course we still have firefighters to worry about).
