  1. ^ ah yes, the Shell Information. Center. This at least gives us one that hasn't been recently remodeled, expanded or renewed. Maybe Shell is going to build a new information center up north.
  2. ^ This idea about Shell having employees scattered all over the city has been thrown out several times, but nobody has actually provided us with any locations. As far as I know, Shell is now (and will be very soon) consolidated into three locations... downtown (in 3 buildings), Woodcreek, and the Technology Center at Westhollow. Where else do they have people?
  3. There are not bus stops at every intersection along the new north line expansion for routes running parallel with the rail. For a good portion of the route, if not all, the only bus stops at intersections are for routes that intersect with (run perpendicular to) the rail line.
  4. The only reasonable way to enforce that rule is to not allow open food and beverages carried onto the train. Further, the whole point of the rule is to reduce maintenance and cleaning costs caused by dropped food and spilled beverages. Allowing passengers to carry cups of coffee on to the train but not allowing them to drink the coffee does not serve the purpose of the rule.
  5. 1. I don't know of a metro rail system anywhere that allows food and drink on their trains. 2. It's not that freakin' cold. Deal with it.
  6. As reported in the Hampton Inn/Homewood Suites thread, it appears this hotel project is proceeding. The Houston First Corp. board of directors was scheduled to consider today and presumably acted on the Convention Services Agreement with the Hyatt Place hotel developer.
  7. That's kinda sorta correct, except that I don't know what Century would have had to do with it (the adjoining and eventually-connected Allen Center was developed by MetLife. MedLife sold it to TrizecHahn. TrizecHahn sold it to Brookfield. Also, the building stopped being see-through long before it gained its skywalk. The years of see-throughdom had a lot more to do with the oil bust occurring just before the building was completed than its lack of connection to the tunnels.
  8. Very cool that they are apparently moving forward on these two new hotels. Note that Swamplot is continuing their fact-light approach to "reporting" by calling this a La Quinta, when it is in fact going to be a Hampton Inn and a Homewood Suites. What's really hilarious is that there was once a La Quinta planned for this location... 6+ years ago. Wrong, or just 6 years late with their reportage? ;-) More indication that this hotel project is proceeding apace: the Houston First Board of Directors considered and presumably took action on a Convention Services Agreement with the developer of these hotels (American Liberty Hospitality). They were also set to take the same action with an entity called Block 75, LLC, presumably the developer of the Hyatt Place on the same block.
  9. ^ Oh, I see now. I think you're right. That's sad.
  10. I think the north line gets limited service because the expected traffic does not justify more-frequent service. I don't think it actually has anything to do with the new cars issue.
  11. Which lines are you referencing? #15, which most closely tracked the red line extension was eliminated the day after the rail line opened.
  12. ^ I think they are wrong. Pretty embarrassing for Morris. But if things don't work out at Morris for the author of that piece, they are eminently qualified for a reporting job at the Chronicle.
  13. Thanks for the link. Kinda weird that the description ("3 level podium and 22-level room tower") does not match the rendering (5-level podium and approximately 24-level room tower).
  14. In the words of an esteemed board contributor earlier in this very thread, "I'll take what you say as rumor for now. Perhaps at the end of the day you DO know something the rest of us don't but your credibility is on the line if it all falls apart ;)" To further quote the same esteemed contributor, again from earlier in this very thread, "Finally, I'm not going to call you out or call you a liar. If you say you have a [wealthy] friend [whose father has connections], then by all means, I'm all ears. However, what you say doesn't make any sense so perhaps you can keep us updated?" (See post #405) ;-)
  15. Just found confirmation of this. And the weird thing is, it's not even a particularly recent development. (SSSHHH, don't anyone let the crack real estate reporters in this town know about it.) It appears in Colvill's 2nd Quarter 2013 Office Market Report. 375,000 square feet being vacated by Shell in Two Shell Plaza as of January 1, 2015. Not sure what Shell is up to, and it seems they didn't plan things out very well when they signed the lease on this space about 2 years ago, but this obviously has nothing to do with any supposed Conroe/Woodlands campus.(Interestingly, it is reported by Colvill as "direct lease", so they must have re-worked their lease with Hines.) To add some more intrigue, Colville does not show the space as being available on the leasing website. hmmm. Have they already leased it?
  16. Yeah, sorry wxman, but the fact that Chevron just bought another block of downtown just last week pretty much kills off the likelihood of that rumor having any validity.
  17. I don't think anyone is talking about scheduled commercial service at Conroe/Lone Star Airport.
