  1. Don't be too sure. I think we're pretty likely to see another office tower within 5 years. The Hines people at the grand opening of BG Group Place said similar things (without a specific time horizon). In spite of all the warnings of office gluts repeatedly published by the Chron and Ralph Biviins over the past decade, we just cant seem to get a decent glut going in this town. ;-)
  2. That has to be one of the most worthless rankings ever. The guy didn't even follow the criteria he claims of have set for the rankings. And Lucas Oil Stadium??? People talk about Lucas Oil Stadium???? What a complete joke.
  3. If top management is a distraction, they should be fired, not located out of sight.
  4. Houston Tomorrow got it correct. That is in fact what Ned Holmes said.
  5. Good catch. Apparently she is completely able to fill Nancy's shoes, so to speak.
  6. For the record, contrary to what Nancy Sarnoff reported, Mr. Burge did NOT say that the Spring campus will be the North American HQ. Her quote is correct - Burge said that "this will be their home campus". But her statement that Burge said Exxon will announce plans for its North American headquarters south of the Woodlands is false. "Home campus" is obviously open to interpretation, but it could just as easily mean world HQ as North American HQ. Earlier information from ExxonMobil told us that the downtown tower operations will not be relocated. So it seems likely that North American HQ will stay in downtown Houston. One thing we know for sure is that nobody, including Billy Burge, has said that the Spring campus will be headquarters, either North American or world.
  7. Before you get suicidal, High Street was announced around the same time as Regent Square and I think the progress on it has been similar to the progress on Regent Square.
  8. Like I said, she had absolutely nothing to do with the new stadium. That is the fact. And nothing you wrote even suggests otherwise. If her husband was instrumental in anything related to the Dynamo, put him on the stage.
  9. Why must we always look for reasons to be jealous of developments in other cities? High Street is at Perimeter Center, 13 miles from downtown Atlanta. I'll take Regent Square, 2 1/2 miles from downtown Houston any day.

  11. Just walked by this building today. Good news: There appears to be work going on. Better news: there is a building permit posted for removing the non-historical stone and glass, and restoring the historical cladding.
  12. I was there too. I thought the booing was hilarious. SJL deserved to be booed just for steamrolling herself into the groundbreaking. She had absolutely nothing to do with the Dynamo Stadium. But where there are TV cameras, SJL will get herself on stage.
  13. :-) Agreed. This is turning out to be a pretty exciting project.
  14. The time it has taken is not all that incredible when compared to other MLS stadium projects. For example, the New York Red Bull apparently started stadium negotiations in 1996 and finally opened in 2010. Kansas City's took longer as well. When you add in the fact that the Dynamo Stadium is the only MLS stadium in an urban location, it makes the timing even less incredible. A suburban location almost certainly could have been achieved more quickly.
  15. Any news (or worthwhile rumors) on how sales are going?
  16. The chances of all of the proposed malls actually being constructed is roughly zero. All of the proposed developments are looking for lessees. Only the most successful (probably only one) will be built.
  17. I think the dedication/official opening is scheduled for something like February 15.
  18. Probably not, considering there was no Admission fee for the event.
  19. Are you referring to the Crowne Plaza on the Southwest Freeway? I don't think it was ever a Holiday Inn. Prior to being Holiday Inn Select (which I always thought was the wrong badge for that hotel) it was not part of the Intercontinental Hotel Group family.
