  1. Oh, so now it's all about the money and only the money, is it? In your earlier post, the demand was that the megachurches should be doing something "so Christian as helping the less fortunate among us". And now, when it's pointed out that they are in fact doing such things, their failure to state on their website how much money they spend on these ministries is somehow proof to you that they are doing nothing.
  2. The L&T conversion appears to be well beyond the concept phase: "Simon Property has already had to reinvent the space that up until January housed Lord & Taylor. The company is subdividing about 100,000 square feet for restaurants, specialty shops and a children's play area. The Oceanaire Seafood Room, Del Frisco's and Kona Grill have signed leases to open restaurants there." Galleria space "challenge"
  3. It is patently ridiculous and ignorant to suggest that Houston does not have people of good will who care about such things. And your rather thinly-veiled stab at Lakewood is equally ignorant. Maybe you should check out some of Lakewood's missions. Here's an idea, you could even help out!
  4. Just because you don't see it on the news doesn't mean it is not happening. If you "cared" half as much about the homeless as you pretend, you might be aware of the many missions and programs and efforts that are made by many different groups, including, yes the biggest megachurch of them all, Lakewood.
  5. Source? Or can you at least attach some square footage numbers to that claim? I'd be interested to know
  6. Bayou Lofts. And the Courtyard Hotel has a rooftop pool, which I believe is separate from the Humble Apartments pool. Four Seasons Hotel
  7. and is the Sydney stadium "going to waste" as Arche told us they all are?
  8. The Macy's name will survive in downtown Boston, but they have not decided yet whether it will be in the current Filene's location or the current Macy's location.
  9. Regarding "converting" the Macy's building into apartments, SURELY what they really mean is building an apartment tower on top of the building, or clearing the site and constructing a new apartment tower. I've thought for years that the Galleria should have a residential component, and was always surprised that Hines never added a residential tower. One other thought regarding the Macy's store. What the Houston papers have totally missed is that Federated has also said that they are still evalutating the 68 locations that are slated to close, and that some of them may ultimately be converted to Bloomingdale's.
  10. I agree. It is still surprising to me, but generally house-buyers have NO imagination. NONE. The bad carpet must go, at once.
  11. No. You are wrong Semipro. ALL Foley's stores will be re-branded as Macy's stores. ALL. Every single one of them. They currently have no plans to close any Foley's stores, including downtown, Northwest Mall, Sharpstown, etc. etc. They will close the store in the Galleria that is currently called Macy's and the store in the Galleria that is currently known as Foley's will be re-branded as a Macy's. Now, do you have a source or link for this nonsense of turning the current Macy's store into Class A apartments? That seems HIGHLY unlikely, given the floor sizes and lack of windows.
  12. Kinda looks a bit like the Atlantic Station development in Atlanta.
  13. I don't know for sure about the others, but Atlanta does not have a 120,000 seat stadium, empty or otherwise. Nor do they have any large stadium "going to waste" after their Olympics.
  14. Where do you (any of you) get the idea it is not a lake?
  15. I believe the routes along Westpark and Richmond are alternatives scenarios. There will not be rail lines laid on both.
  16. I think you've been lied to. I'm pretty sure I've seen some gas cooktops in highrise buildings in Houston. The Mercer advertises gas cooktops in their units.
  17. Chevron sold the "old" Chevron Building to Crescent, the owner of Houston Center. They have renamed it Fulbright Tower, in recognition of the primary tenant, the law firm of Fulbright and Jaworski.
  18. The consolidation at Ellington is part of a deal with the Texas Medical Center... the existing facilities/land on OST will become part of the Texas Medical Center, allowing room for further expansion of the University of Texas Research Park.
  19. That was one of two highly inaccurate and irresponsible headlines in the Chronicle JUST TODAY. I thought that paper was getting better, but it seems to be becoming more and more of a joke. and Nancy Sarnoff seems to have been infected a bit by the "all negative news all the time" malady of Ralph Bivins and much of the rest of the Chronicle. As others have noted, the second part of the headline: "loses biggest tenant" was NOT news.
  20. Neither. They inherited the space from The Coastal Corporation, when El Paso took them over.
  21. Actually, I believe Allison was a FIVE hundred year event.
