  1. Interesting. I had not even been aware there was restaurant space in the Greyhound station. The Pizza Hut Express is apparently pretty new. As of January 2020, Google Street View shows "24 Hour Restaurant - Best Burgers in Midtown". In February 2008, it was a KFC.
  2. It would be a mistake to allow this. The area is very quickly becoming one of the most pedestrian-friendly parts of our city. Taking out pieces of the grid is the wrong way to go.
  3. . And, in the case of Montrose... A boulevard for the entire length.
  4. Most of those brands would be perfectly happy to have more than one location in Houston. Nevertheless, you may well be right. That seems to be the way Midway likes to go.
  5. From the Houston Business Journal: Michelin-starred chefs to open new restaurants at MFAH's Kinder Building Café Leonelli and Le Jardinier will open in the MFAH's new Nancy and Rich Kinder Building. Both will be led by Michelin-starred chefs: Jonathan Benno will lead Café Leonelli, and Alain Verzeroli will lead Le Jardinier. Café Leonelli will be a more relaxed, buffet-style Italian restaurant serving focaccia, pasta, polenta, entrees and more. It will use seasonal Houston ingredients, and its baked goods will be made using traditional Italian methods. Salvatore Martone, also a Michelin star recipient, is Bastion’s executive pastry chef. Le Jarrdinier will use French culinary techniques and seasonal ingredients. The restaurant will include outdoor seating and a gluten-free bakery as well as additional baked goods from Martone.
  6. Marriott won't buy it. Marriott is not generally in the business of owning hotels. More news from Houston Business Journal: Robert Williamson, senior vice president of investment management for Midway, called the closure temporary. “We view this as a unique opportunity to reevaluate operations, explore ways to enhance our offerings, maximize value and reopen with minimal impact while the industry slowly recovers," Williamson said. "Providing an unrivaled hotel and dining experience remains our top priority, and we look forward to serving our guests in the near future.”
  7. So many possibilities... Edition, Luxury Collection, St Regis, Le Meridien, Autograph Collection, Tribute Portfolio, Kimpton, Curio Collection, Signia, Tapestry Collection, Canopy, Conrad, LXR, Waldorf Astoria, Loews, Regent, Intercontinental. . .
  8. Buried in an attachment to a City Council Agenda item regarding the Terminal Redevelopment Program at Bush Intercontinental: " By mid-Summer this year, design will have been completed and construction will be fully underway." To remind everyone of what the project includes: Constructing a new 11-gate concourse on the northside of Terminal B, becoming the “New Terminal C North” (project already completed by United Airlines); demolition (already completed) and replacement of the “Old Terminal C North” pier with a new Terminal D-West pier, renovation of the existing D Terminal, and integrating the Terminal D-West pier and D Terminal into a new single common-use north gate complex; expansion, modernization, and reconfiguration of the Federal Inspection Services (FIS) facility to improve baggage handling systems; constructing a new centralized international ticketing hall and centralized international security checkpoint; improving the meeter/greeter hall, and increasing the passenger roadway and curbside drop off/pickup capacity. ITRP also provides for the completion of various Program-supporting enabling projects such as utilities infrastructure and terminal roadways.
  9. [EDIT: Never mind... I see you used Wikipedia numbers]: Looking at Emporis, it seems it would be tied with 609 Main for 7th tallest. Did Emporis leave something off the list (which they have been known to do)? According to Emporis: 600 Travis 1,002 Wells Fargo Plaza 992 Williams Tower 901 TC Energy Center 780 Heritage Plaza 762 Enterprise Plaza (1100 Louisiana) 756 609 Main / McNair Rosewood Hotel 752 FWIW, per Wikipedia: 600 Travis 1,002 Wells Fargo Plaza 992 Williams Tower 901 TC Energy Center 780 Heritage Plaza 762 609 Main 757 Enteprise Plaza 756 McNair Rosewood Hotel 752 I wonder why the 5-foot discrepancy for 609 Main
  10. Not sure there is much salvageable in that building, unfortunately. Have you seen it from above?
  11. Whoah there! There is nothing hateful or personal about asking for a little clarification/backup for a post. No, you don't have to answer any of my questions, but since this is a forum for discussion . . .
  12. I don't think Rice University owns the part of Rice Village where HPB was located.
  13. "decades long proximity to the redline" is a bit of stretch, considering the original portion of the red-line (which almost but didn't quite brush up against the near north side) is not yet "decades" old. The portion that serves the near north side has not even been operating for a single decade, let alone decades. This is the time to buy. Development in the near north side has been percolating along slowly-but-surely, and seems to be accelerating.
  14. FWIW, the linked article says nothing at all about the area needing washaterias.
  15. Pretty sure this is the Post Oak side. The flags are on the "street" between this and BBVA/PNC.
  16. Almost has to be high-rise, doesn't it?
  17. I think the Law Building admissions desk was relocated to the side quite some time ago. And there's this from the MFAH website regarding admissions adjustments due to COVID: "On the main campus, a single designated visitor entrance, at the Audrey Jones Beck Building (5601 Main Street)."
  18. IIRC, Texas Children's added 19 stories on top of an existing 6-story building.
  19. FWIW, One imagines that if the Law Building doors are currently closed, it might be because of the COVID-induced reduced operating capacity.
  20. Maybe it means that The Rustic is doing really well...
  21. Where are the decades worth of developments north, south and west of Brookshire for which you believe developers bypassed Brookshire? They aren't showing up on Google Maps. ;-) It seems Brookshire (and Waller County in general) were never bypassed, but are beginning to have greater attention paid to them now for the simple reason that, they are the next in line geographically.
  22. Did I miss something? When was 515 Rusk updated?
  23. IIRC, Innovation Tower was originally presented as a two-phase project, with the upper, second phase, portion to be built depending on market demand (and could be residential or additional medical lab/office space). This latest rendering looks quite similar to the Phase 1, Parking/lab structure in the original information.
  24. The door that is down in the second pic is just the pre-existing door for the loading dock. You can see it in Google Map Street Views going way back.
