matt79
We used to drive out to one of these drive-ins on s. main when i was in high school in the late 90s. It was long abandoned by then, but it made for a good place to hang out and drink beer.
Highrise Tower
Apparently, this was also a Kiddie Amusement Park? In a lot of the images of the SMDIT, you cannot see the front entrance well enough. I found a clear photo this week and it clearly says there's an amusement park included. I do recall a few other drive-in theaters had a playground area for the kids. I wonder if this was what they were implying? The Sharpstown Drive-In had a fenced portion for attractions I believe. I looked in this thread and I didn't see any pictures! I'll add one for thread!
Highrise Tower
In this historic photograph you can see the South Main Drive-In Theater on the left side and Brochsteins on the right. Amazing view. If only the Domain Privee Casino was captured as well. It's just a tad bit on the right!
