infinite_jim
Nice one. It's too bad none of the renderings give much in terms of scale w/r/t the high rise retirement bldg, but for this area the building scale appears good on paper. This will potentially drive up the land value of that small cluster of class B buildings off of Post Oak Rd.
Maxer
Nice one. It's too bad none of the renderings give much in terms of scaleIn the bottom left you can see the edge of the church; it's not much but should give some idea of how big it is. dmoneybangbang
wow, cool. It slightly reminds me of discovery tower; the top does. The top does look like Discovery Tower and like a few of the taller buildings in the Westchase District; they all share the exact same top design. VelvetJ
While it could be a whole lot worse, I see this design and I feel nothing. I like the skin but overall I think this is just blah.Come on Houston, give me a slanted roof or a large asymmetrical design. There is more to life than basic boxes. Maxer
The reason you don't see more variety is there are probably only 5 people responsible for 85% of all the large building designs in the city.

TheNiche
Good to see some positive news on this one, considering that it had gone sideways for over four years.(God damn...has it been that long? What the hell happened!?)
Houston19514
Is there really a meaningful difference between "on hold" and "seeking tenants"?In any event, something tells me the crack reporters at the Chron just now learned of this proposed project. Triton
This has to be dead, right? I noticed they took down the sign 4 weeks ago.
allthingshouston
Long time reader, first time posting. I work for a company associated with this project. It is officially dead. I believe the church decided to use the land to build their own parking garage on it.

bobruss
So if I understand this they are going to build a big ugly garage on the corner of 610 & 10.That should look real nice. I hope someone dissuades them from doing that. Surely theycan come up with a better plan. Money is not a problem for them.

Popular Post Mab
More than two years ago, Houston-based Hines inked a deal to build an office tower in the parking lot of Houston’s First Baptist Church. The building was never developed, and now another local developer is proposing a similar project. Midway announced plans Monday for One Parkside, a 13-story tower with 225,000 square feet of office space on nearly 4 acres adjacent to the church at 7401 Katy Freeway. The company said it has started looking for tenants to pre-lease space in the building, which will also include a 10-story parking garage and a 2,000 square-foot cafe on the ground floor. “We’re excited to introduce this marquee opportunity, positioned to take advantage of the site from an architectural, view and signage standpoint,” Shon Link, Midway’s executive vice president of development, said in a statement. The site is at the southwest intersection of Interstate 10 and the 610 Loop. The tenants will have the option to join the church’s fitness and recreation center, which includes childcare, personal training, indoor basketball courts and a bowling alley, according to Midway, which developed CityCentre in west Houston and owns downtown’s GreenStreet mixed-use complex. Kirksey designed the proposed Midway building, and Russell Hodges of JLL is leasing it.
Urbannizer
This one does not take up the entire lot, I'd suspect they're saving the other half for a second phase.

Triton
in this marketat that locationyeah, I wouldn't hold your breath for this one.....Could be possible. Not everyone is in the oil industry and the rest of the economy is actually doing quite well. Transwestern just booked it at the Central Bank location. Another financial or real estate company could book it here. I know CBRE is currently looking for space.

Houston19514
They're in charge of leasing out that redevelopment.Yeah, I know. I was wondering if Triton really thought that was evidence of the existence of a market for another new building,as he seemed to suggest. tangledwoods
there is still demand for office space in houston, but the location of this project just doesn't make sense to me. It's not uptown, or energy corridor, or downtown. I just dont understand who they would market this to.
