20thStDad
So maybe I am just ignorant on hate crimes. Do they only specify race, religion, and sexual preference, or does it cover any type of profiling or targeting when committing a crime? If so that leaves out so many other things that are "hate" crimes. Targeting or "heat of the moment" are separated in 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, manslaughter, etc. That's why I'm not sure why there are separate and additional penalties. Premeditated is premeditated whether you target someone for being black, gay, or because they slept with your wife. Obviously I'm not a lawyer, but I just don't get the point of it. MidtownCoog
The "N" word.Depending on who says it it's either a compliment, a term of endearment or an insult. What if an Asian called a Pakistani and "N" while he threw a rock at him?Is that a hate crime? Can only certain peole be "Ns"?
