cloud713
i saw this building when i was driving down westpark today on my way home from waco. i agree with most everyone else, it does look pretty good in person and is surprisingly easy to spot in the uptown skyline with the big lettering on the building.
Urbannizer
446-unit mixed-use tower by Gables Residential. Manhattan Construction is the GC; construction expected to begin early next year. I'm guessing this is the 2nd phase to BBVA Compass Plaza, but I'm not entirely sure. I don't remember Gables ever being a part of that development team. I counted 36-floors. Edited November 9, 2013 by Urbannizer
fernz
That site plan is definetely at BBVA Compass Plaza. it looks great, who is the architect?
bobruss
So, is this going on the site next to the bbva Compass tower?
bobruss
It looks to be about 37 or 38 stories. Is that close?
lockmat
I dig it. Would this not be by far our biggest resi highrise in terms of units?
Triton
Looks like the bbva compass tower twin.
wxman
Awesome! If this is office, then we're looking at yet another building topping 500' in Houston! I would add that I am cautiously optimistic because that is prolly the cheapest rendering I've seen since the Chevron tower. Looks tacky. Do big companies not believe in decent renderings any more? Edited November 9, 2013 by wxman

It's mixed use and those are residential balconies. Seems residential and hotel. Edited November 9, 2013 by lockmat

King Owl
what's "mixed use" about it? Â Is there a hotel? Â It looks like a similar design to the W in Dallas...
Gary
Urbannizer, Curious as to where the rendering came from. Looks a little fishy, although it wouldn't be the first time a subpar rendering came to fruition.

cloud713
And the fact that it looks like the bbva phase 2 tower, who's plans have been floating around for a while.
Gary
Given his track record many are willing to give the benifit of the doubtIt wasn't directed at the hard work Urbannizer does. It was a simple statement that the rendering looked a little cartoonish. Further, I finished by saying that this forum has seen renderings like this come to fruition. Just curious as to where the rendering came from.

swtsig
You could confuse that rendering for 5th ave... Pretty remarkable the amount of hi rise development in uptown.
