The first Catholic church in Houston was St. Vincent's. Where was it located? I have been told that it's bell is located at Annunciation Church. I do now the Cemetery close to Our Lady Of Guadalupe was the St. Vincent cemetery and that Dick Dowling is buried there in an unmarked grave.

The 1866 city directory lists St. Vincent de Paul on Franklin between San Jacinto and Caroline, with Rev. Augustin D'Asti, O.S.F. pastor.

This is about where the new Harris County Criminal Justice Center is (or the parking lot across the street).

Further information in the directory states that it was built around 1840-1841, and attached a residence for the priests and a schoolhouse.
