Porchman
Editor? What's the story?I like Ottawa. Spent some time there a few years ago. After battling Mosqitoes in the woods of eastern Quebec, Mrs. Porchman and I checked into a Parliament view room at the Chateau Laurier. The exchnage rate was about .70US/1CA at thie time, so it was a good deal. The museums are really great. Mrs. P loves The Group of Seven works at the National Art Gallery. editor
Remember back when things in Canadian dollars were more than their American counterparts? A Big Mac was $1.75 in the States, and $3.00 in Canada, but it didn't matter because the Canadian money was worth less so it all evened out? Yeah... no more. The prices haven't changed, only the exchange rate.Crap is EXPENSIVE here. The only thing cheap is the hotels. Everything else is expensive. Fortunately, once you've taken in the sights (Museum of Canadian Civilizations is pretty good) there's not much to do or spend your money on.Ottawa for a few more days; then Toronto; then back to Chicago in the first half of September.
