KimberlySayWhat
Excuse me if I sound ignorant. I know the Alley has prestige especially among the theater community, but I was surprised to read this quote from a Hollywood actress like Nicole Kidman: "I can't imagine Chicago without the Goodman and I couldn't imagine Houston without the Alley. And to let this theater of similar status in Buffalo fall to the wayside would be a crime". http://www.wkbw.com/news/local/27336069.html She's trying to save a theater in New York. Also, it gets a fair amount of attention from the national theatre press for producing new plays.I'm sorry to hear about Studio Arena's problems. My sister has performed in a handful of plays there. memebag
I think it's pretty well known. I remember hearing Spalding Gray talk about working there in the 60s.
KimberlySayWhat
I see. Thanks for the reply. I've been inside the Alley several times, but I don't think I've ever seen a play there. I've always loved the design of it.
wernicke
The Alley is a very nice venue to see a play or musical... almost no seat is a bad seat. The Summer Chills series is always good fun and a relative steal at $20 or so.Everyone should check out a production.Interesting history of the Alley building here. roadrunner
The plays at the Alley are fantastic. The Christmas Carol is always my favorite.
