The owner was/is super cool and that place was the best sushi in the city when it first opened. While it has been hit or miss the last several years, the super tuna and agadashi tofu were always killer. As far as the building goes, doze it. I always hated that they took the vacant lots that used to support the Westheimer festival and filled them in with classic Houston strip malls. Compare Westheimer west of Montrose to the east side. There is no comparison to the difference in foot traffic -- strip malls blow.I wish they'd fill it up with porn shops, tatoo parlors, and bars. hindesky
Work is being done in the interior of the old Osaka sushi place in suite E.
hindesky
So I asked the worker in the pic what this was going to be, he said something BB cajun food, If you look up Boz Partners it is Brooks Bassler owner and creator of BB's Cajun Kitchen. His first store was on Montrose between the Valero gas station and Pepperoni's Pizza. He now has about 15 locations. His original restaurant is tiny and I guess he outgrew it and will be moving to the old Osaka Sushi location. Worker counted about 20 tables and a bar by the front, kitchen in the middle back and restrooms to the left of the worker.

Even if I was the only customer it still felt jam-packed. I'm glad that it's turned out to be a success and the new former Osaki looks like a more suitable size. hindesky
BB's Cajun Kitchen new location, I was at the original location last week and asked the waitress when they were moving in, she said maybe late Nov. or December. I'm guessing December is more likely.

hindesky
Replacing the front sidewalk, looks like there is going to be an outside patio area to the right of the building. Met the general manager who said they plan on opening Jan. 9th.

gene
wondered the same thing, as i cannot imagine that gas station and tiny strip plaza lasting much longer with all the changes happening at that intersection in the coming years!

hindesky
Talked with the contractor building the patio, he said most of will have a roof except around the tree. It will have a railing and they will build a wall and enclosure around the trash bin. Sign company is prepping to install the sign sometime this week. Glass has been installed in the doorway.
