astros148
it looks like the hotel wont even come off as nice as the renderings. I wonder how long that NRG lease is for? As long as NRG is there, its not going to be a retail hub. It takes up way to much prime space

astros148
in the rendering it shows the blank wall space as a glass facade corridor sort. I wonder if they will actually do that?
jmitch94
If we had not had such a wonderful first render of this hotel it would be seen in such a different light. I think it looks good imo.

It takes up way to much space in Greenstreet for it to ever be a retail hub, It has to be leasing out atleast a third of available space. Also for gods akes I hope they put some sort of advertisement or billboard next to the hotel in that ugly empty wall The first floor of the Polk side pictured above is also the first floor of the office building. Urbannizer
The pool went from the top floor of the hotel and enclosed in glass to the 5th level facing the shopping center.

BigFootsSocks
There's a laydown yard for this is right on the purple line on McKinney, so I get to see all the facade pieces come in before they're installed whenever I head to UH.

Tumbleweed_Tx
Some chick named Sandy had some new glasses..btw..the new forum software sucks. What was the reason for the switch? You can't post decent images to this site anymore, and the ads are intrusive.

cloud713
Yep.. No surprise. Even last May on a downtown development tour one of the guides was commenting on how far behind it was in terms of trying to meet the "fall 2016" schedule.
astros148
sorry but this building is coming out ugly as sin so far. Doesnt even look as good as the second rendering
bobruss
I agree, and when did they switch over to the pre cast facade. it was so promising when they released the first rendering. They really blew it with this one. Its going to look just like the rest of their building. Ugly. No-one is going to get excited about staying there. They needed something more exciting to attract people to stay there.
KinkaidAlum
Agreed. Been holding my finger but it's apparent this will look nothing like the second rendering.

MarathonMan
Actually, it looks to me quite similar to the rendering. Not as much contrast in the facade's colors, but I think it will look nice when the package is complete. It's location on the newly redone Dallas St. takes it up a notch or two, too. astros148
Location makes the building more attractive looks wise? Therse no doubt that this building will be good for greenstreet but it is coming out UGLY. Do you see those window borders? Are you kidding me? It looks like the new hampton that was built. monarch
^^^ @astros148 hey my pal, it's just humble beginnings. however, at the very end of the day, please remember that this development is owned by MIDWAY CORP... as in citycentre fame. their stellar reputation is on the line here. alessandra shall be first class.... HoustonIsHome
Doesn't look like they are going down the 1st close road to me. Looks like they took the average route. I'm surprised we have not fallen into the low expectations we usually fall into and begin talking along the lines of "at least it's not as bad as embassy suites". This hotel might still become the it spot, but it sure could have been helped along on that path if the original plan was built.
Nole23
Tried looking through the thread to find the answer but correct me if I'm wrong, the lobby will be on the 2nd floor with retail on the street level? Thanks.
