IronTiger
I haven't downloaded GE 5 yet, but I heard it has cool historic aerials that can be easily accessed. I also heard it has some awful omnipresent updater, though. With historic aerials...how far back does it go? Is it awesome? marmer
A quick search of Houston areas shows the images go back to 1995, with three to six intervening dates until the most recent. Different levels of zoom may have been taken at different times.Seems cool but I'm not sure it reaches the level of awesome. Maybe I'll poke around some more. Dan the Man
Interestingly enough, there are bugs in several areas. The default image for 2009 is not always the most recent. You can scroll back to 2005 or 2006 and see a more recent image. Edited February 10, 2009 by Dan the Man
sevfiv
I tried installing GE 5 (linux) and it's a no-go . I may check it out on Windows though.
sevfiv
It's kind of neat to switch between current and the oldest (1995) in some locations, and nice to see it large and without watermarks like from historicaerials.com. I wonder if any older satellite images will be added...
