lockmat
Yep, the lot next to the Wedge Tower. On the first page, there's a rendering of what the project was proposed to look like in 2009, but it's possible the project will feature a new design. Looks like it will be the same design https://www.facebook.com/MathisGroup/photos/a.457659550972858.1073741825.453063364765810/680980318640779/?type=1&theater
mfastx
What's that building right behind it on the same block? Looks unrecognizable to me. EDIT: I see it now, looks slightly different in the rendering. Edited June 4, 2014 by mfastx

ArchFan
That is great. Wedge was only half finished. This fixes the big red wall where the second tower was supposed to go. A minor eyesore fix. Yes, I appreciate fixing that eyesore. However, I would not want to stay in one of the rooms facing that blank red wall, no matter how cheap they rent for! :-)
Tumbleweed_Tx
I imagine that wall will be part of the hallway
Montrose1100
I'm ok with the same (old & boring), design as it looks almost like an extension of the Wedge Tower.
infinite_jim
They'll have great views of the surrounding parking garages!
Subdude
I'm glad to see a design that complements the Wedge Building. That site was originally intended for a mirror image of the Wedge Building that was never built. Maybe 10-12 years ago there was a proposal for a glass box office building on the site that thankfully went nowhere.

urbanize713
I hate to be negative but I do wonder which view will command the highest rate. The Chevron parking parage, Wedge garage, or the surface lot

Moore713
Not surprised.. Thursday hotel projection said 2016 would see a dip in due to oil, some companies have already canceled their reservations, the good is they expect 2017 to be a rebound yr
Urbannizer
From the listing of this project on constructionwire: On 9/30/15, a representative from Wedge Group stated this project has been placed on hold
Subdude
If it's cancelled, that would be the third project at that site to go away.

Subdude
Wasn't there an original twin? Followed by a black box, followed by this initial proposal, and then this second one? Correct. As an aside, the Texaco building was another site with a series unsuccessful development proposals before one actually came together. Popular Post Urbannizer
http://www.wedgegroup.com/private-investments/commercial-properties/block-320/ Quote This 30,000 square foot half block is located adjacent to 1415 Louisiana with borders to Louisiana, Clay, and Milam. The half block is currently a surface parking lot. WEDGE has complete full construction drawings for a 230 room hotel and plans to go forward with the project when downtown hotel market conditions dictate.

Nate99
"when downtown hotel market conditions dictate." With Alessandra and Le Meridien about to come online, in addition to the Marriott and Aloft that recently opened, I would be interested to see what it would take to require more rooms. Hoping for Hyatt Place at 1114 Texas too.
