Urbannizer
This major international motor sports and automobile complex will feature a two-mile oval that includes a three-mile road curse through the infield. 100,000 seats ad 142 luxury suites. The fan-friendly complex will be designated to host a variety of racing events. Initial plans also include a 500-room hotel. http://www.morrisarchitects.com/ (Go to what, then planning then Master Planning.) Does anyone know anything else about this? TheNiche
For a time, several years ago (2003-ish), a similar project was proposed at SH 288 and FM 1492 in Brazoria County. This might be that.
Urbannizer
For a time, several years ago (2003-ish), a similar project was proposed at SH 288 and FM 1492 in Brazoria County. This might be that. The one proposed for Brazoria County was supposed to be designed by Hermes Architects; have 75,000 seats. The name of it was 'Houston Super Speedway'. http://houston.bizjournals.com/houston/sto...ry5.html?page=1 Here's a rendering of 'Houston Super Speedway' (2003 Proposal) which is different from the one I posted above. TJones
As much as I would like to see Houston get something like this.....I wouldn't get TOO excited about it. Dallas gets 2 events a year, and NASCAR says that there just aren't enough races to let Dallas lose one. THis is how the previous proposal in 2003 got shot down my friend. Montrose1100
I wouldn't be too dissapointed if this thing didn't get built. Not a fan of nascar... but if it was also used for formula 1, then you'd get me excited. Interesting concept with the hotel leaning over the stands with the luxury suites. Urbannizer
Well I've read somewhere that someone (can't remember his name but it starts with a B ) wants to build a INTL Speedway in Houston but, he can't decide where in Houston to build one.... 20thStDad
I'm not a fan of NASCAR at all, but I've heard going to a race is different. I'd go down there, tailgate, and check it out. That could be fun.
Deut28Thirteen
I am not a big fan of NASCAR but if this does get built i would not mind. If it were to get built I think a good spot for it is somewhere up 59 north. I dont know the attendance of NASCAR but is 100,000+ asking for too much? Trae
I think most NASCAR venues are around 100,000 actually. And I'd want to place it somewhere in Brazoria County along 287. Where there is a lot of room.
lockmat
NASCAR is the most popular "sport" in America, isn't it? It's right up there with football.Nevertheless, it's a huge deal to a lot of people. It would be pretty cool to get it.

uhlaw09
I've been hearing for a long time (completely unsubstantiated) that a NASCAR track would be built up 59 North near the Porter / New Caney area. This is near the tie-in for 59 North and the Grand Parkway, which will occur near Community Drive.
texas911
NASCAR? Yuk, we just need to get Indy Car and Le Mans back.
urban909
NASCAR? Yuk, we just need to get Indy Car and Le Mans back.I agree with most on NASCAR. Bring some F1 racing or even better MotoGP or the Superbike, middleweight classes. Now THATS something I would go see. Rossi, Stoner, etc battling it out with in driving distance from my house!Nathan

lockmat
"Houston International Motor Speedway" is listed as a client for these guys: http://www.frostmotorsports.com/clients.htmlThey list it here, too. However, document properties says it was created in 2007: http://www.frostmotorsports.com/client_list.pdfNot exactly sure what this is, but it says, "renderings...yes": http://www.editgrid.com/user/zoltan/Entertainment2003 article: http://www.galvnews.com/story.lasso?wcd=10217see slide 11 here: http://www.slideshare.net/guestf69d19/port...entation-727021
