Original Timmy Chan's
I heard the Bob Boudreaux story from a friend who worked at Channel 13. Unfortunately that was many beers ago...Too bad I can't remember it...it was a hell of a story. Almost as exciting as the Ed Brandon story. Wondered that myself.I never heard the Bob Boudreax story, too bad you couldn't ask Dave Ward when he used to frequent "The Volcano" nightly. Could have waited for him to get liquored up, then hammer him for the info. Edited January 19, 2006 by TJones
FilioScotia
Cast that stone! They did fire him Kathysue, but they left the door open for a return. The news release said he resigned, but we all know how that works -- resign or be fired. Ed got into a recovery program and he was out of broadcasting for a couple of years before Dan Patrick gave him a part time job doing some call-in shows on KSEV. That's something Ed is very good at, because he did a daytime call-in show on KTRH back in the mid and late 70s, in addition to his weather gig at KTRK. He worked at KSEV for more than a year rebuilding his credibility and reputation, until KTRK decided to take him back in his old job on a probationary basis. He had to prove he had rehabilitated himself before KTRK would even talk to him. I have my doubts about your information, because KTRK wouldn't have even considered letting him come back if there had been even a HINT of pedophilia. It was published knowledge at the time that an adult man had complained to police that he'd been sexually abused in an encounter with Ed. Police investigated but found no proof of that. They did find pornographic videos, but none involving children. Police said they found no evidence that a crime had been committed. Even so, Ed was out at KTRK because of his cocaine addiction. This guy went through pure hell, and he knows he's the luckiest guy in the broadcast business. Very few high profile people ever recover from a fall like the one he made. Ed gives thanks to God every day for getting that second chance. You talk as if you don't believe in the power of redemption. I think Ed has earned his. Edited October 17, 2006 by FilioScotia
stan the man
What is the Bob Boudreaux story? Wondered that myself. Not quite sure, but the Chron archives note that about a year after the Ed Brandon fallout, Bob Boudreaux stopped anchoring Live at Five and was later told by his agent (from NYC) to shave his mustache. He also reportedly turned down on offer from Fox 26 and wound up with 13's weekend gig. Edited September 27, 2007 by stan the man

This site says that he might be replaced with Mike Barajas nephew: http://blog.whereismatt.tv/?p=95Wow, This is shocking. When is his last day anchoring the 4pm newscast? When will Erik start? Will he still be anchoring the morning newscast? I wouldn't think KTRK would fire him. He does a great job. He's one of KTRK's top anchors, and has been with them since the 1980s. Chris
Erik Barajas just did his first report for ABC 13 at the top of the 6:00 Newscast, I'm guessing he starts the 4PM Newscast tommorrow, but I could be wrong. According to ABC 13, Tom Koch will just be working the morning shifts which means the 5am-7am Newscast with Sharron Melton.

LTAWACS
All television stations are required to carry some local content that is of public service. Small stations like PAX meet that requirement by carrying rebroadcasts of other local news broadcasts. For example, WBQC-CA/Cincinnati(25) carries the rebroadcast of WCPO/Cincinnati(9).PAX doesn't actually operate its own facility. It's run from KHOU's technical center, though PAX maintains seperate offices elsewhere because it is licensed to Conroe, not Houston. There was a plan in the works to run KHOU and PAX by remote control from Dallas. Much of the equipment was put in place, but I don't know if they ever got around to finishing the project. When it was completed, KHOU/Houston(11), KHOU-DT/Houston(31), KPXB/Conroe(49), KPXB-DT/Conroe(5), WFAA/Dallas(8), WFAA-DT/Dallas(9), KENS/San Antonio(5), KENS-DT(55)/San Antonio, KVUE/Austin(24), KVUE-DT/Austin(33), and KBEJ/Fredericksburg(2) were all to be run by remote control from Dallas. There was also talk of adding WWL-TV/New Orleans(4), and WWL-DT/New Orlenas(36) to the project, but last I heard that didn't get off the ground. When you have a small station, like KPXB being run from inside a larger station like KHOU, very often that smaller station gets bought by the larger one in a few years. Or at least that was true until this year. With the brouhaha in DC over ownership rules, very few TV stations are bring bought or sold anymore until the mess gets straightenede out. No one wants to take a chance buying a station they might be forced to sell. They should build the facilities here and run them from here instead.
